Size isn't everything. Littler kid shocked us by pulling off this victory! He used every trick in the book. This clip is from a Wampaku tournament that's live now :D
#sumo
Najima is 16 years old. He's fun loving, always cracking jokes and making his stablemates laugh. He used to swear like a sailor, too! As one of the skinniest guys in sumo, stuff like this happens sometimes. Great match. :D
#sumo
My Twitch channel now has re-runs of professional sumo tournaments running everyday, in between my regular streams. If you ever need a sumo fix until the next basho, I got you covered. 😎
It was a wonderful Grand Sumo tournament! We had the return of Terunofuji, the rise of Ochiai, and the certain promotion to the salaried ranks for Kawazoe and Shishi! Plus, our chat raised almost $1500 for Parkinson's Research! Already looking forward to the next one.😁
#sumo
This just happened a couple of minutes ago on stream. Incredible move from one of the best young prospects in sumo, 19 year old Yamato. Pulled off the same move Ura has done before! Incredible.
#sumo
In a monumental bout, Corporate Yokozuna Ochiai faces off against the wrecking ball Kazekeno for the division 3 title. Both are future stars in sumo, with a lot on the line!
#sumo
Ichiyamamoto may be a top division wrestler, but he's also a huge fan of Wakatakakage! He just showed of an entire wall of Wakatakakage merchandise, including this Waka soundbox! He's a real gem!
#sumo
I should rename my account to StickBug sumo! Here's Gaia, a 17-year-old from Shima, Mie, which is a coastal city with 3 islands. He spent his days surfing before taking up sumo! He's one of the skinniest men in sumo, but has strong core strength as a result! :)
#sumo
Last night we watched the 37th Wampaku National Championships, where 4th-6th grade students faced off in their biggest sumo tourney of the year. This was the highlight bout, a young Mongolian boy on the left, facing off against Tanasawa Ryota from Chiba Prefecture. Awesome stuff!
Satokaneko is a 15 year old stickbug sumo wrestler, checking in at just 5'6 and 143 pounds! He joins his 2 brothers at Nishiiwa stable! Here's his first win as a professional, an impressive leg trip against a much larger opponent :)
#sumo
Kawazoe is probably the most exciting wrestler in all of sumo. Here he is, having another incredible bout, this time against fellow prospect Tochikamiyama. They'll both be in the salaried ranks soon!
#sumo
Yamato Yuji is a 19-year-old rikishi fighting for Dewanoumi stable. He's listed at 5'9 and 172 pounds. He's a dynamic wrestler, regularly showing off impressive moves, like this.
This bout from moments ago!

I'm hoping to return to Twitch as early as tomorrow, doing commentary over top of live sumo with my new PNGTuber. Excited to give it a shot!
Live now on YouTube, streaming sumo as usual, with added replays, music, match info, and wrestler biographies. Link below!
The Hakuho Cup is live right now! Here's a clip from the 9-10 year old finals, which happened moments ago. The winner, a young Mongolian boy who never gave up. :)

#hakuhocup
I'm not sure what kimarite (winning technique) this was, but it was super cool nonetheless. A wild finish! There's a live college sumo tournament going on right now, and this clip is from moments ago.

Nakamura Daiki won yesterday's Kokutai All-Japan amateur sumo tournament yesterday, wiping the floor with the competition. He even beat his head coach in the final match! He qualifies for Makushita 10 TD, whenever he chooses to join ozumo. Here's an example of how his bouts went!
It has been announced Kaisei has retired. He retires with a highest rank of sekiwake (July 2016), 1 juryo yusho and 3 fighting spirit prizes. He was obviously in pain during his last few tourneys, so rest well big guy! I'll miss ya!
We're watching the final day of the sumo tournament now. This bout just finished, it's Byakuen the Stick Boy vs Kurokage. Byakuen with a cool move at the edge to upset the larger opponent.
#sumo
We'll surely miss Wakatakakage in the upcoming Grand Sumo tournament. To help tide us over, here's a compilation of middle aged men struggling to say his name correctly during the awards ceremony.
Daibasho is 15 year of age and making his Grand Sumo debut this weekend. The son of a jockey, Daibasho trained to become a jockey himself. He has a fondness for sweets, namely matcha ice cream, so he wasn't happy with the weight restrictions jockeys are subject to. Part 1 of 2.
I was just about to post this clip, but Sarah's got it! Incredible match! Suzaki is someone I've been tracking since I started watching sumo. He was a rail thin kid and now he's doing this kind of stuff. So fun! :D
@jacksonpublick
Who do I have to challenge to a lawn darts game to get another season greenlit? Just point me in their general direction and I will rush in, blindly.
Excellent footwork here from a high school sumo wrestler! He's competing at the 37th All-Japan High School Sumo Tournament in Hirosaki, Japan! It's live on YouTube right now, on a Japanese channel called "Amateur Sumo Channel".
Byakuen is one of the smallest wrestlers in all of sumo, listed at 5'7 and just 152 pounds. He wrestles alongside his brother Gaia at Tatsunami stable. Here he is with some sweet moves against Matsumoto.
#sumo
Kotoshoho's tournament was a bit of a mixed bag, but his 19-year-old brother Kototebakari is sailing along in the lower divisions. He finished 6-1 after this decisive win against skilled thrower Hinataryu. He's 24-2 now with 2 yushos, and is making his division 3 debut next time!
Ochiai is a 19-year-old making his Grand Sumo debut. He has dominated and won countless yushos all throughout his amateur career. He's a 2x High School Yokozuna, Hakuho Cup winner and became corporate Yokozuna at 18. He has an uncanny ability to out-position his opponents.
#sumo
5'5 sparkplug Kawazoe made his debut this time in division 3. He went 4-2 against non-Asanoyama opponents, and showcased his unique, athletic brand of sumo. Here is Kawazoe pulling off his signature utchari manoeuvre against ex-juryo wrestler, Kotoyusho.
#sumo
2x College Yokozuna and future sumo superstar Nakamura has chosen to join the stable of the last Japanese yokozuna, ex-Kisenosato. It's very exciting! He can form some fierce rivalries with Hakuho's stable of young wrestlers. He'll be starting near the top of division 3 in May.
19 year old ex-high school Yokozuna Yoshii is working towards his kachi-koshi at Makushita 3. He's so close to the salaried ranks! Here he is facing 3rd division veteran Kamito!
Kawazoe vs Ochiai, in an exhibition bout today at Hakuho's retirement ceremony. They're stablemates, so they can't face each other in proper Grand Sumo, outside of playoffs. Ochiai has the shorter hair!

#hakuho
We're live with the final day of sumo action on my channel! A 7-way division 3 playoff is scheduled later, and Atamifuji can become the 7th youngest top division winner in Grand Sumo history.

I'm very proud of our Twitch community. Last night we raised $1055 for the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. We've been doing it one a tourney for the last 3 Grand Sumo tournaments, and raised over $3600 in total. It warms my cold, dead heart. 😄

I commissioned a sumo wrestler commercial compilation from 'Japanese Commercials HD' on YouTube, and it came out great.
Here it is, some of the best sumo wrestler commercials, with lots of Asashoryu. There's even some I've never seen before!

I can't wait for the sumo to start up. 15 straight days of distraction and positive vibes are exactly what a lot of us need right now. I'll keep close tabs on all of the top prospects in the lower divisions and post some of their highlights here on Twitter.
A baby gyoji going by the name of Shikimori Funosuke! He's starting at Oshiogawa stable in the next tournament! I look forward to watching his matches. 😁
#sumo
The Wampaku National Championships didn't just have sumo matches, they had 2 boys with yokozuna entrance ceremonies. There's a baby gyoji and a little swordbearer/dewsweeper. The adult yobidashi can barely contain his grin.
#sumo
Yesterday's charity drive was a great success! Another $1200 raised for Parkinson's research at
@MichaelJFoxOrg
. A big thanks to
@sumo_jason
for stopping by, it made a lot of people happy.
2 days left in the tournament, I can't wait to see this one finishes. Day 14 starts soon!
Kayo, 23, is former college sumo star from Nippon Sport Science University. He has a never say die attitude, giving every bout the maximum effort. He has impressive footwork/speed for a guy who is 5'7 and 322 pounds. His balance and footwork on full display here!
#sumo
Tomorrow on my stream we'll be having our fundraiser for the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research! All day long we'll be raising funds. Our goal is $1000, which we've reached for the last 4 Grand Sumo tournaments. Let's make it 5!
@MichaelJFoxOrg

Stumbled across this figure online and did a double-take. Right figure looks nothing like David Boreanaz and very much like
@MaxScoville
. Includes Hawaiian shirt, flask, box of pizza and some sort of Wizardman's staff. Coincidence??
Kazuto, 19, is making his division 3 debut this tourney. He's just 5'9 and 247 pounds, but fights like he was shot out of a cannon. Kazuto made top-4 at Nationals in high school and was part of a championship middle school sumo team. Here he is, on the right side.
#sumo
This bout happened minutes ago. Asanoyama vs Tamashoho! It's a battle of 2 men at 5-0. A former Ozeki vs a makushita veteran. Tamashoho is also Tamawashi's brother-in-law!

Here's another exciting match, this time from division 4 prospect, 20-year old magician Asakiryu. They spun themselves so hard, they forgot what corner they started in.

16 year old Najima (on the left here) gets some instruction from his stablemate, Ichinojo. If you're wondering, the weight difference is roughly 317 pounds, or 1 Ichiyamamoto.

The Grand Sumo tournament starts today at 7:15pm Eastern, 4:15pm Pacific time. I'll have all of it live on my channel! It's great to have pro sumo back again! 😀
I highly recommend the new Sumo Do, Sumo Don't TV show on Disney+. The classic film gets the Cobra Kai treatment, with the first two episodes out now. The lead actress is amazing, she trained for 1.5 years doing sumo and it really shows! I can't wait for the next episode.
#sumo
Here's one more Wampaku National Championships highlight match. This bout features another Mongolian boy showing off some impressive in-ring skills.
#sumo
@Sumo_Jason
That's terrible! Your channel falls under fair use, this is so stupid from NHK. I hope you can fight and get your channel back, to preserve the archive at least.
My favorite rikishi, Mitoryu, will finally be making his top division debut. He has been grinding in division 2 for the last 26 tournaments, and doesn't have any other wrestlers in his stable to practice with. The quality of his sumo has been excellent this past year, he's ready!
Thanks to anyone who has followed me. I haven't done Twitter stuff before, but I catch on quick. I'll be posting cool matches and moments more often once the basho itself is over. 9 hours of streaming for 15 straight days leave me without much time or energy for even more
#sumo
.
We watched an amateur sumo tournament tonight. You'd think the highlight would be an amazing throw, but no! I say it was when the bumbling rookie yobidashi had his broom taken away from him, and the visibly annoyed referee swept up in his place. Poor kid!😆

Here's a trailer for the upcoming Disney+ TV adaptation of Sumo Do, Sumo Don't. It was the movie that first got me into sumo and it looks like they've done it justice. We'll be binge watching it the day it comes out.😄
This isn't something I knew I wanted, but sign me up for roller disco dancing sumo wrestlers. I think we've got a tachiai in the top middle frame.

Kise stable (which features Ura, Shiden and Hidenoumi) is working on new YouTube content for their channel, which seems to similar to Futagoyama-beya's SumoFood series at first glance. Please check it out, so they make more!
