President & CEO of

Congrats to my friend
@staceyabrams
for her nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize- a wonderful tribute to her work. She is in tremendous company of fellow Georgia Nobel Peace prize winners Dr. King and President Carter.
.
@madeleine
asked: “What do you want to accomplish with this speech?”
@HillaryClinton
answered: “I want to push the envelope as far as I can on behalf of women & girls.” Thoughtful, powerful reflection 25 years after
@UN
Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing cc
@TheAtlantic
Twenty-five years ago, I was in Beijing to give a speech about women's rights.
Here's how it came together, what it meant, and why—a quarter-century on—I believe it's no longer enough to talk about women's rights.
We need to expand women's power.
Congrats to
@ReverendWarnock
on his historic win. Well done friend! I know that he will bring to the Senate his life-long commitment to social justice and economic opportunity for all.
Excited to have

Terminating our relationship with
@WHO
in the very middle of a global pandemic is self-defeating, short-sighted & downright dangerous. What we need now is investment & cooperation to fight this virus & to work hand in hand w/ vulnerable communities as they try to stop the spread.
Congratulations to Jon
@Ossoff
on his election to the U.S. Senate. We look forward to his leadership for our state and our nation at a critical moment.
Wishing President and Mrs. Carter a joyous 74th wedding anniversary. (They have been married for almost as long as
@CARE
has existed!) What an amazing partnership and exemplar of a beautiful relationship that has brought extraordinary positive change to the world.
@CarterCenter
I have been constantly thinking of the women and girls of
#Afghanistan
these last few days. I so well remember the spirit of resilience and ambition of the people I met there. We must stand with them, urging the country's leaders to ensure their rights and their future.
.
@WHO
is an essential partner to all countries, particularly in this time of unprecedented crisis & abandoning this critical body will only put more lives at risk. The Trump admin.’s decision to halt funding during a global pandemic is dangerous, self-defeating & short-sighted.
Spot on, Priyanka Chopra Jonas! Social distancing is sometimes just not possible.
@CARE

May we all take inspiration from Kofi Annan’s life as a "stubborn optimist” – a relentless humanitarian. Time to re-read his memoir – Interventions: A Life in War and Peace – richly describing an extraordinary commitment to fighting with and for humanity.
Thank you, Rosalynn Carter! Her work raising awareness about mental health issues and advocating for family caregivers has been trailblazing. Wishing her a very happy 93rd Birthday!

Congratulations to President-Elect

Exciting to recognize
@The_Real_IMAN
's dedication to philanthropy with the
@CARE
Impact Award for Global Health. Her remarks about her personal connection to CARE's work were moving: "I am the face of an immigrant. I am the face of a refugee. I am those people that CARE helps."
Happy 96th birthday to our 39th President and an extraordinary change agent, Jimmy Carter. Grateful for his transformational mark on the world.

Love this

This beautiful image is a garden that Anas Sweid created at the CARE office in Jarabulus, NW Syria. He wanted to plant seeds of life & beauty for the community that CARE brings. Anas died in the earthquake, along with his daughter & wife. His two-year-old son was rescued. 🧵
Wishing Rosalyn Carter a wonderful 94th birthday today, and offering thanks for her groundbreaking work raising awareness around mental-health issues and advocating for family caregivers.

Fascinating discussion with President
@BillClinton
last night on a wide range of issues. From the global refugee crisis and immigration reform to North Korea and cybersecurity, we covered a lot of ground in just over an hour. Insightful and inspiring.
Remembering Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an extraordinary champion for justice and for gender equality. We celebrate a life of enormous consequence. May we all live with such determination, courage, and righteousness.

John Lewis showed us what non-violence looks like not only as a powerful force for justice but as a way of living one’s life. He perfectly embodied non-violence- gentle, humble, strong, resilient, forbearing, persevering, and loving.
I’ve been a fan of Jill Biden for years. She is an authentic and deeply committed leader & I relish the memory of volunteering together for Hands On Atlanta Day & helping with my 2014 campaign.
@DrBiden
Happy 83rd birthday to my dad! Grateful for his example of life-long service and vitality – he was busy on Zoom calls when I called him earlier, and I was able to go on a hike with him over the weekend.
Today we celebrate the life & legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a bold visionary whose wisdom continues to challenge us to think of our lives in terms of service. Prompting us still are his words: “Life’s most persistent & urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'"
Surely it is time to pass the International Violence Against Women Act, which was first introduced in 2015. Everything that can be done, must be done, to prevent the tragic brutality of sexual violence that
@NickKristof
captures.

Take a look for inspiration -- it’s wonderful to see the progress achieved on such an essential issue and a powerful reminder of the work that remains to be done. Onward!

When President
@JoeBiden
arrives in Georgia today, he won’t just be commemorating his first 100 days in office. He’ll also be taking a victory lap in the state that put his expansive legislative agenda within reach.
This is a myopic agenda with potentially catastrophic consequences. Foreign assistance is an expression of our most deeply-held values & a manifestation of U.S. global leadership. When we lead, the world benefits and millions of lives are saved.
Powerful words from
@CindyMcCain
encouraging all of us to join together

to fight for others, to speak up and act out against injustice, intolerance, and the abuse of power.
I'm reminded how profoundly President Carter has shaped our world as a visionary political leader, an orchestrator of peace, a carpenter for humanity, a champion for human rights, a healer of disease, a teacher of faith, & a true writer of change. Lifting him up in our prayers.

Desmond Tutu was a prophetic champion for rights, justice and forgiveness. His sprightly humor and twinkling spirit embraced us all with goodness. Grateful for his life and example.
I’m saddened to learn of the death of global sage, human rights leader, and powerful pilgrim on earth, Archbishop

A great, influential elder is now an eternal, witnessing ancestor.
And we are better because he was here.
I’m praying for Archbishop Tutu’s family.
Joining Rosalynn Carter in celebrating & thanking the caregivers all around us. We must recognize, protect, & equitably support our caregivers, here & around the world.

Our founder, Rosalynn Carter often reminds us there are 4 types of people: Those who have been caregivers. Those who are currently caregivers. Those who will be caregivers, and those who will need a caregiver.

The images of the violent incursion on our Capitol and the disruption of our democratic process today is so disturbing. As President-elect Biden said, we must unite in decency. It will take all of us.
