@Operadata @LordRickettsP @GeorginaEWright In that scenario, yes, the two elections, presidential and parliamentary would have more or less been synchronised again. I say more or less because the new presidential election would have to be held between 20 and 35 days after the resignation.

@LordRickettsP @Operadata @GeorginaEWright Macron having called an early parliamentary election, they are no longer synchronised. MPs were elected for a 5-year term in this year’s election, theoretically until 2029. A new president, say in 2027, would have to call early parliamentary elections to synchronise them again.

@robin_j_brooks Markets have actually rewarded Spain with lower yields compared to peers, France in particular. And what’s clear on your graph is that Spanish debt has been on a downward trajectory since the end of the EZ debt crisis, bar one year due to COVID. Italy is another story…
