“Metrics such as church attendance might no longer be the most accurate proxy for America’s religious affiliation.”
Countless people in my parishes don’t attend services, but they do participate in works of charity. This, they feel, keeps them connected to Christ and the Church.
The re-conversion of
#HagiaSophia
into a mosque is a visible sign of the Turkey’s disregard for the religious freedom of Christians and other religious minorities.

Authority, power and dominance are not the same. Power is the abuse of authority. Dominance is the abuse of power. One receives authority from others. One takes power from others. One forces dominance on others.

During Friday’s Salutations Service at the Ascension Church in Lincolnshire, the Malamis bros assisted in the altar. Both told me they want to be priests one day. Nicholas said he wants to be a married priest like his dad; Aimilianos, “a priest-monk,” thus the staff.

Today, the Metropolis of Chicago Launched a New Women-Led Initiative. I’m humbled by the way women have helped shape our Church over the centuries, and I’m excited about the things to come through our Myrrhbearers!

our Greek Orthodox community prays for repose of the child and is prepared to help the family during this painful time.
The 20 month old son of one of our men in ChicagoCRED was shot & killed yesterday. He was sitting in his car seat as his mother drove to the laundromat. His dad often brought him to our program.
I witnessed a family’s grief that is unbearable, indescribable.
There are no words.
Proud of the leaders of our Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago for stepping up and putting their faith into action.

Yesterday, the clergy brotherhood of our Holy Metropolis of Chicago had the blessing to receive His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America. Many thanks to the Saints Peter and Paul parish for its warm hospitality.
One of mom’s favorite activities is grocery shopping at Pete’s Market in Willowbrook. She loves the quality and selection of the produce. As you can tell, she realizes something is off with the economy; she’s not a fan of inflation.

It was a great joy to receive

I enjoyed visiting some of our parochial schools last week. The administrators, teachers, parents, volunteers and staff have gone through great efforts to provide our kids with safe learning environments.
