But I know that would be the leftist way, so it better let the rich become richer and the poor die in poverty

@ClaireSilver12 All artists are thieves (if references, intertextuality, ideas appreciation etc is called a "theft"). The idea about an autonomous artist who is hit by the divine inspiration spark is romanticism fairytale. Art emerges from referencing and copying - but in a new way.
