While talent is distributed broadly, opportunity is not-- @Caltech. Thanks to trailblazers @pallie_ashley & Prof. Leadbetter, Caltech's new admissions policy opens doors to new brilliance. 1/2

Yesterday may have been a loss, but it’s not new to me, especially in recent times. No matter the outcome, the work must continue. I believe in unity, not division—finding common ground and shared purpose across lines to help those who need it most. Our children, students, and the vulnerable can’t wait for us to grieve. We must keep moving forward. #mathequity #21stcenturymath #educationequity #ForTheKids

It seems you don’t recognize when to stop. You have no idea how much math knowledge I possess, nor do you understand how many White men in my life have questioned my abilities in this area. Please don’t judge me! Have you considered the impact your words have on the Black girls who look up to me? Your accusations only serve to undermine them. I sincerely hope you don’t have a role in teaching math to women or people of color. Wishing you peace.

As a Black woman, I constantly find myself having to defend my educational status, abilities, and even my right to speak out. This is simply unacceptable. When will it end? How many degrees or how much experience do I need to validate my worth and achievements? Even holding a PhD in educational psychology and quantitative methods from an R1 university isn’t enough to affirm my place in these conversations. I have earned the right to speak up, I’ve earned the right yo be in this space, you and no one else will convince me otherwise!!!!! @matloff
Do not gang up on me and this is a lie. My PhD is in Educational Psychology and Quantitative Methods and math is a foundational component of quantitative methods as it enables researchers to rigorously analyze data and derive meaningful insights. Quantitative Methods refer to research techniques that focus on quantifying data and using statistical analysis to draw conclusions. In the context of educational psychology, quantitative methods involve collecting numerical data through surveys, tests, or experiments to assess learning outcomes, evaluate educational programs, and understand relationships between variables (like teaching methods and student performance). This approach allows researchers to make generalizations and test hypotheses using statistical tools. Educational Psychology is a field that focuses on understanding how people learn and develop in educational settings. It combines theories and principles from psychology to address how students acquire knowledge, the factors that influence learning, and the best practices for teaching. Key topics in educational psychology include motivation, learning styles, cognitive development, assessment, and the impact of social and cultural factors on education. Together, these fields help educators and researchers develop evidence-based practices to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

Jelani, it’s cowardly to team up with your cousin instead of standing up for yourself. You can bring in family members, but where is the proof of the Black American children you’ve purportedly helped? Resorting to social media bullying wasn’t enough; you needed to run and get your cousin to gang up on me!!! You needed support to validate your identity!!??? This is frankly absurd!! This behavior doesn’t reflect well on you. Anyone can find a family member to back them, but real credibility comes from the voices of the Black students or parents they’ve genuinely supported. As a Black woman, this situation is both frustrating and hurtful. Please consider finding someone else to target and stop exploiting our community. I rest my case.
