I was struck by lightning under a tree. It wasn’t storming, just a light rain and then BAM!
I didn’t go to the hospital because I didn’t lose consciousness, but in retrospect, I wish I had. Wound up with a terrible concussion that cost my ability to do math.

I had to re-learn how to read, too. I didn’t realize I had what essentially amounted to a TBI until I couldn’t recall how to work the gas pump, or read the instructions! That’s when I called my doc and went in.

It was excruciatingly painful. Felt like someone was trying to tear off the top of my head. I didn’t realize, with brain injuries, that they can worsen as time goes on. My loss of memory and reading function happened about 2 days after the strike. I got lost while I was driving.

Getting struck was such a weird thing. I was wired for sound, I mean vibrating!
I had 3 small burn spots. One at the scalp, above my hairline and two on my arm where it was resting against the chair. Wound up with some weird heart rhythms, headaches and awful insomnia.

At my grandparents farm, coyotes, feral hogs and skunks were fair game. Skunks would kill chickens just as fast as anything else. That is along with the spring snake shoot. Water moccasins, rattlesnake and copperheads were shot, leaving the good snakes alone. Life on a farm. 🤷♀️

In fact, I could set my clock by some of the flyovers.
Being an Air Force brat and growing up on AF bases tuned my ears.
