As a graduate of Hillcrest High School, it both angers me and breaks my heart to see young people using violence to try to silence those who stand with Israel. As a Mom, I worry about my sons' future if we ever accept a nation where bullies decide what others may or may not say.
My entire career, I fought to protect a woman’s right to choose, a right that is fundamental. Watching our country go backwards by deliberating Roe v. Wade is deeply disheartening. We must preserve full access to safe abortion care.
#SCOTUS
I’m proud to be the District Attorney-elect for Queens. The people of our borough deserve to feel safe and to know that their justice system is working for everyone. As the first woman elected to this position, I look forward to making Queens a leader in criminal justice reform!
I'm so proud to have been sworn in as your next District Attorney, and to renew my commitment to holding this office to the highest possible standards of justice and fairness. Together, we'll usher in a new era of criminal justice reform for Queens.
Let's get to work.
Today’s swearing-in of Kamala Harris is a historic milestone for America. As my favorite musical points out, 🎶𝐿𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑎𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑡 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑙𝑢𝑐𝑘𝑦 𝑤𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑛𝑜𝑤🎶
Congratulations to our new President and to our new Vice President!
As a lawyer and a legislator, I dedicated my life to giving a voice to those without one. Now, I'm ready to continue that work as your next
#QueensDA
.
RT to show you're with me!
For the last 50 years, the U.S. has led the way in protecting a woman’s right to choose. We cannot stand idly by while our nation goes backwards. I've fought to preserve reproductive rights my entire career and will continue to ensure those rights are protected in Queens.
#SCOTUS
6 weeks after Election Day, the Primary ended.
I'm deeply proud to be the Democratic Nominee for
#QueensDA
& excited to become the first female DA in Queens history.
There is so much work to be done, but before I begin, I need to say thanks⬇️
This primary election was a choice of results vs. rhetoric and the voters spoke loud and clear!
Today’s victory is an affirmation of our tremendous work to keep Queens safe while making our criminal justice system fairer. I thank the voters for instilling their trust in me!
My big brother, Michael, died 5 years ago. He had such an interesting and remarkable life. Through it all, we had an amazing bond. Just wanted him to be remembered today.
Thank you, Queens, for the trust and faith you've put in me to lead our communities forward. I may be starting a new job, but I'm still following the same path I've taken my entire life: To fight on behalf of the people who call our wonderful borough home
As the polls close I just want to say thank you: to those who passed out flyers, to those who came out to the polls, and to those who spoke with me about their hopes for our justice system. No matter what happens, I'll never stop fighting to build a better future for our borough.
On Monday, January 6th, I'll be inaugurated as Queens District Attorney. Will you join us as we celebrate this historic day?

I can't move on without acknowledging the leadership of Héctor Figueroa and Kyle Bragg from
@32BJSEIU
. Héctor was a proud fighter for 32BJ members and for workers everywhere. I was honored to have had his support and am humbled by his friendship.
On this last day of 2022, I took a moment to reflect on how much all our lives have changed over the last few years. As my children enter their pre-teen and teen years, allow me to share 2 of my favorite photos from years gone by. From my family to yours, Happy New Year!
Today was the memorial service for a truly great New Yorker. I consider Héctor Figueroa a hero, and I'm proud to have been able to call him a friend. We honor him today by vowing to continue fighting for our city's workers and immigrants.
Proud mom moment: my son was so brave this morning when he performed songs from Hamilton with his class even though he had to use crutches. He did a great job -- and the whole performance was great (even if he brought a whole new meaning to "break-a-leg.")
It’s Hunter’s 8th birthday today! I can’t believe how fast time flies. So happy to celebrate another year of watching him grow up and I am so proud to be his mom! Happy birthday Hunter!
The terrorist attacks by Hamas on the people of Israel are absolutely horrific. The U.S. stands with Israel in its unwavering right to defend itself. I stand ready to ensure Israel has the support to do so. My prayers are with the dead, reported hostages, and hundreds injured.
Sending my son off to his first day of 7th grade. Thank you to the teachers and all those working with our future leaders. Here’s to a great year ahead for all of our kids.
Public defenders working on behalf of low-income clients deserve to be paid as much as government attorneys: A court system that works for ALL New Yorkers depends on it.

@LegalAidNYC
Today's the day we’ve all been waiting for… it's Election Day! You’ve been there every step of the way, now let’s finish what we started and make history!
Every single vote counts, so get to your polling place today before 9:00 PM and cast your ballot for District Attorney!
Queens rally today. No matter what your party, no matter what your politics, these terrorist acts and the kidnapping and killing of innocent civilians crosses every line. As always, we stand united with Israel in this crisis.
As many of you know, my brother Michael passed away this summer.
@FIT
will be showcasing his work starting 10/11 through 11/15, and I'd love for you all to join me in celebrating his life and his remarkable talent.
My dad raised four children on his own. He was an amazing man for his family. He had faith in me, my career and instilled in me the drive for justice.
I love you, Dad, and I miss you so much. Happy Father's Day.
Congratulations to everyone celebrating graduations this month. It was a challenging few years to get through school for our kids. Mine are moving up to junior high and high school. Proud of them. Congrats everyone!
This morning,
@CabanForQueens
put out a new ad that spends a lot of time talking about...me.
Let me be clear. For someone who is supposedly running a "different kind of campaign," this ad was full of the same sexism & half-truths that the worst kind of campaigns use. (THREAD 🔽)
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the campaign staff, volunteers, endorsers, union workers for helping to spread our message far and wide.
Special gratitude to Governor
@KathyHochul
&
@RepGregoryMeeks
for standing with me tonight.
Let's continue the work!
"The deep relationships and trust she’s built up in every neighborhood of the Borough will ensure that the DA’s office can effectively respond to the needs of the diverse communities of Queens. I’m confident that she will be an excellent DA" Thank you,
@DanRosenthalNYC
!
Ask anyone who’s ever been elected to represent their community -- fighting for fairness is a full-time job. These officials have all dedicated their lives to that fight, and I’m so proud to have their support!
I'm so humbled to have the endorsement of Evelyn Peralta, the widow of the late Senator José Peralta, and to have marched in the Queens Dominican parade this afternoon in Senator Peralta's memory.
There have been 85 assaults against transit workers this year, and zero accountability.
@TWULocal100
members keep our city moving, and the MTA should be doing everything in its power to keep them safe.
I'm excited to share that I've been endorsed by The Queens Courier! Reforming our justice system goes hand in hand with hard-hitting reporting on criminal justice issues, so I'm proud to have the support of the publications written by Queens residents, for Queens residents!
@QNS
It's official:
@RWDSU
, RWDSU
@Local338
and
@UFCW1500
are joining
#TeamKatz
! I'm proud to be supported by the hardworking women and men who make our borough stronger!
Wonderful to see the unity of our City on full display during the annual
@CelebrateIsrael
parade over the weekend.
It was a joyous celebration of our Jewish communities and
#Israel
's 75th anniversary 🇮🇱
#IsraelDayParade
"Her plan to protect Queens residents from wage theft, unsafe workplaces, and hostile work environments will make New York a better, safer place for working families.”
So proud to have
@32BJSEIU
's endorsement for
#QueensDA
!
As DA I will be establishing the Bureau of Housing and Loan Fraud.
#PredatoryLending
is destroying so many families in our community and it is vital that we crack down on these white-collar criminals in
#Queens
.
Thank you,
@1199SEIU
! I’m especially proud to announce this endorsement, because NYC's 250,000+ nurses, technicians, medical professionals and I share a common goal: keeping our neighborhoods healthy and safe. And if elected, that's exactly what I'll do as your District Attorney.
Six years ago today, I cast my vote for my first term as Borough President. While I'm still voting in the same spot, a lot has changed in Queens. I'm ready to make even more progress as the next Queens DA and I hope I can count on your vote to make that happen!
Last night, I was attacked for “knowing people in the community” -- but I won’t apologize for building relationships with the very same people who’ll be affected by my reforms. I'm proud to not only "know" my community, but to partner with them in our fight for justice for all.
The outpouring of support today in Forest Hills and St. Albans was tremendous, and so exciting! I can't imagine a better way to kick of the final weekend of this campaign, thank you so much to everyone who came out and became a part of
#TeamKatz
!!
"The people of New York should feel that the next Queens District Attorney is important, and that's why I'm here from the boogie down Bronx to say that I support and endorse Melinda Katz!"
@rubendiazjr
If a lawyer hasn't slept in two days because he or she is working multiple jobs to make ends meet, the quality of counsel will suffer.
@LegalAidNYC
lawyers are doing important work, and they deserve the financial resources to succeed
#PayParityNow
It's with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of a progressive icon and my dear friend, Héctor Figueroa. He was a tireless advocate who inspired so many to take up the cause of our city's workers and immigrants, and my deepest condolences are with his family and his union.
As Queens Borough President, I have made preventing hate crimes a top priority. And as DA, I'll continue to do so until everyone who calls Queens home feels safe and protected in their communities
For the record, it's not just Manhattanites! As Queens BP & a lifelong resident of Queens, I would fight against a Trump library in our Borough. We are everything Trump hates: diverse, strong, & welcoming. He can put his library in Moscow.
Some of the proudest fights of my career, from my time in the Assembly to the City Council to the Borough President’s office, were to expand access to reproductive care. And together with
@PPNYCVotesPAC
, we can continue that fight from the District Attorney's office!
From creating new programs to safeguard our rights, to prosecuting under laws I authored as a legislator to keep women safe, I will always fight for you.
Tomorrow,
#PrimaryDay
, cast your vote for progress and let's continue the work together.
For as long as I've known
@LiuNewYork
, he's been a progressive leader and powerful voice for the people of northern and eastern Queens. He was an early opponent of stop-and-frisk, and has taken the lead on reducing hate crime in Queens. I'm so proud to have his endorsement!
#PrimaryDay
is here, Queens County, and the polls are open till 9pm! Proud to have cast my ballot in affirmation of our work towards progress, safety and equity.
Don't forget to vote! 🗳
THANK YOU to everyone who voted today! And if you haven’t made it to the polls yet, there’s still half an hour until they close at 9:00 PM -- and remember: as long as you’re in line to vote by 9:00 PM, you can still cast your ballot!
Until public defenders earn the same amount as prosecutors, our criminal justice system will continue to work against the most disadvantaged and vulnerable among us.
#PayParityNow
"I think pay parity is an issue because it's an issue of value. It's valuing our clients. It's valuing people that do the work, but it's also valuing justice. And without pay parity, we cannot do this work," -
#ShivaniAlamo
, LAS Housing Staff Attorney.
#PayParityNow
Finally, to the volunteers who showed up before Election Day, on Election Day, and over the 6 weeks since, thank you. Through every single up and every single down of this campaign, your support kept me going.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
This win is ours together
My father was a wonderful supporter and mentor. He selflessly took on the role of both parents after my mother died. I miss him every day.
Happy
#FathersDay
to all the dads and father figures in our lives. Your love and support help us become the best version of ourselves.
Yesterday 29 people were murdered and dozens more injured in the
#ElPasoTerroristAttack
and
#Dayton
. My heart aches for the victims & their loved ones, & I’m thankful for the first responders.
We owe it to all affected to stand together and act to end the plague of gun violence
Working together over the last 3.5 years with our
#StateSenate
leaders, we’ve seized deadly weapons, held people accountable for crimes motivated by hate, and protected small business owners from retail theft.
I look forward to continuing the work as your District Attorney!
Early voting starts today!
Since 2020, we've overcome immense challenges to help keep our communities safe. Thousands of gun cases prosecuted, hundreds of gang members arrested, millions of dollars worth of deadly drugs seized.
Let's keep up the fight!
I'm proposing legislation to prevent sexual predators from using social media, apps & video games to exploit children.
As our technology changes, we must keep our laws up to date to keep online predators from finding new victims.

Brought my little men with me when I cast my vote this morning. I look forward to building a safer, more just Queens for them to grow up in -- but first we need to bring this home! Get to the polls and make your voice heard!
I posted this on Father's Day 3 years ago. It is 32 years ago today that he died.
He was a single father who taught me about fairness and treating others with kindness. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. I miss him.
"Open-file discovery’s success in Brooklyn has shown us that it can and should be done in Queens"

Michael Simanowitz was an Assemblymember who cared deeply for his community and for the great State of New York. Generations will see his name and tell the story of his commitment. Assemblymember Berger - well said.
For as long as I am in the NY State Assembly, I will try and represent AD27 the Michael Simanowitz Way. This was my first campaign promise, happy to see it through. Thank you
@JimGennaro
for helping get this done.
