Lucy Letby’s latest appeal bid has been dismissed by the court of appeal

Public Inquiry heard that as early as three months after Letby’s first victim died, nurses on the NNU were “thinking the unthinkable”

Another doctor is now giving evidence at @Thirlwall_Inq Dr Barrett says when Letby was taken off clinical shifts they noticed a difference- less deteriorations and cardiac arrests. She remembers describing Letby as “nurse death” to a colleague shortly after death of baby P

Dr Lambie also told inquiry about a “very, very unusual incident” involving another infant that happened up to a fortnight before the death of Child A. “It was something I have never experienced before or since.” That child did not feature in the criminal trial

Dr Lambie said: “I was walking through the intensive care unit & there was a huddle of nurses over the computer & I asked what they were doing & one of the nurses replied they were going through the rota just to make sure that there wasn’t somebody that was on for each one.

She continued… "I make it absolutely clear, it is not for me as chair of this inquiry to set about reviewing the convictions. The Court of Appeal has done that with a very clear result. The convictions stand."

In her opening statement, the chair Lady Thirlwall addressed the growing campaign questioning Letby’s guilt “Parts of the evidence have been selected and criticised…all of this noise has caused enormous additional distress to the families who have already suffered far too much”
