One woman, who lives inside the cordon, came home to find the cordon in place but doesn’t know what’s happened. Students can be seen leaving the university campuses nearby. The cordon has now been removed and police have left the scene.

One man, who lives inside the cordon on Great Newton Street, told the ECHO how he was watching TV and just saw all the blue flashing lights through his window. He said: “I don’t know what’s happened, I’m just going to walk my dog.”
