I had compassion for women (and still do), especially those in my position, who were poor unmarried teens. But I knew my girls were alive from the start, so I had to see how else these ladies could be helped. Churches helped me, so I know the value of community support.

As liberal as some residents of the town I lived in were, the only one who suggested abortion was the father. (I was 16, he was 21). Upon my telling her of my pregnancy by phone, my mom blurted out "We can't afford it!", but that was it. Ultimately I was supported in keeping her.

While there are so many hard-hearted people determined that babies should die, there are others engaged in the conversation who aren't sure, or are on the fence, like many Americans, who might be more open to the pro-life message. You never know where a seed you plant may grow.

Shiloh: This is needed, absolutely. This is one of many reasons to support pregnancy resource centers, who help with ultrasounds, adoption plans, life and parenting skills, and other resources. Also, we need to step up as fellow human beings to assist those we see struggling.

My older sister was adopted, and is now reunited with our family. If I had more money, I would adopt a child and his/her siblings--regardless of "race". I plan on counseling women and girls of all income levels, so they will have help, support, and resources.

If your baby has a terminal diagnosis, killing them certainly won't cure them. Abortion has only destructive power. It doesn't heal rape, stop time, save you from domestic violence, or anything else. It kills a child & harms a mom. That's it.

Katie: A 23-year old woman died last Summer in NM after a late-term abortion. It is rarer than other abortions, but not rare when compared to plane crashes. The heart beats and central nervous system start functioning at 1 and 2 months gestation; death occurs when they stop.
