Global #measles and #rubella elimination efforts have been derailed in the COVID-19 pandemic due to disruptions in routine health services like immunizations. This has caused millions of children to miss lifesaving vaccines, and outbreaks are on the rise.
As more children and adults skip vaccines, diseases like measles, whooping cough, and rubella are making a comeback, putting everyone at risk of diseases that once felt like history. We must prioritize vaccines, not just for our health, but for the most vulnerable among us.

High-quality immunization services, innovative tech, coordinated campaigns, strengthened surveillance & lab capacity, and timely support to respond to outbreaks all work in service of achieving and sustaining measles and rubella elimination goals.
Lao PDR has made remarkable progress in protecting children from #measles and rubella in a recent campaign. This milestone comes at a critical time when global measles cases are rising. Measles is one of the world's most contagious diseases, but itâs preventable with vaccines.

This tech and others like it, such as the #microarraypatch, can revolutionize immunization efforts as health crises, climate change, migration, and conflict become more pressing for countries already facing significant immunization challenges.
The technologyâwhich has already been tested in trials against seasonal flu and measles rubellaâhas been recognised for its potential to address vaccine immunization barriers, especially in hard-to-reach settings. (4/6)

#Measles can lead to serious complications like pneumonia and vision loss. #Vaccines protect people from getting sick or spreading it to others.
#Measles is a highly contagious disease with initial symptoms of high-grade fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes & tiny white spots in the mouth. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience these symptoms or notice them in your loved ones. #StaySafeStayHealthy

If one person has #measles, up to 90% of the unprotected people close to them will also get sick.
Did you know #measles is one of the most contagious diseases? If one person is infected with measles, nearly everyone around them who isnât vaccinated will get infected. Measles spreads easily when a person whoâs infected breathes, coughs or sneezes. It can affect anyone, but itâs most common in children. Vaccination with two doses of measles vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and your community. #VaccinesWork

COVID-19 slowed vaccination progress globally. Through innovative solutions like the #microarray vaccine patch and targeted campaigns to reach zero-dose children, our partners continue to catch children up on essential immunizations and close gaps.
Every child deserves protection! The #BigCatchUp is in full swing in all provinces and areas, vaccinating children who missed routine doses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an opportunity to protect under-immunized children from 12 -59 months. #VaccinesWork #Measles #Rubella

All children deserve a world free from #measles and #rubella. Measles is most dangerous for children under the age of 5, with potential for severe complications like pneumonia and brain damage.
Ensuring children worldwide receive two doses of the measles vaccine is crucial. As humanitarians, we hope to end deaths caused by measles and strengthen the health of communities. Together with our partners, we've vaccinated children in Kenya, Benin and Ethiopia, reducing global measles deaths by 87% between 2000 and 2023 so far. #VaccinesWork #MeaslesPrevention
