Global #measles and #rubella elimination efforts have been derailed in the COVID-19 pandemic due to disruptions in routine health services like immunizations. This has caused millions of children to miss lifesaving vaccines, and outbreaks are on the rise.
As more children and adults skip vaccines, diseases like measles, whooping cough, and rubella are making a comeback, putting everyone at risk of diseases that once felt like history. We must prioritize vaccines, not just for our health, but for the most vulnerable among us.

High-quality immunization services, innovative tech, coordinated campaigns, strengthened surveillance & lab capacity, and timely support to respond to outbreaks all work in service of achieving and sustaining measles and rubella elimination goals.
Lao PDR has made remarkable progress in protecting children from #measles and rubella in a recent campaign. This milestone comes at a critical time when global measles cases are rising. Measles is one of the world's most contagious diseases, but itâs preventable with vaccines.
