In 2021, the British Council supported filmmaker Budoor Al Abid to make a short #film called 'The Marshes of Iraq', to be screened at COP26 in Glasgow. The film has received global attention, being shown at top film festivals and winning industry awards. It's an important and very beautiful film, which looks at the damage #climatechange is wreaking on an ancient way of life in #Iraq. Find out more and see the film here: 📸©️ Budoor Al Abid

Our flagship CPD programme in #Egypt – Teach Engage Inspire - is wrapping up its third year. Look at the infographic to see the impact. An exciting new CPD programme is planned for Egypt, offering the same quality and innovation. I’m looking forward to seeing it build on the success of Teach Engage Inspire.

Meet our colleague Bashair Abdallah, originally an anesthesiologist, she discovered a passion for finance and pursued it as a career. She’s been with us for 7 years, starting out as an accountant in our Sudan office, demonstrating great resilience and commitment to keep financial operations going despite the challenges faced when war broke out. She is now based in Egypt and has been promoted to Finance Manager for a programme which aims to strengthen the capacity of teacher training institutions in Sudan.

Since the launch of our International School Awards programme in 1999, we've recognised over 6,000 schools across the UK, with 79 achieving ISA accreditation this year. The ISA empowers schools to cultivate an international ethos and celebrates those incorporating global perspectives into their curriculum. The 25th Anniversary Awards were celebrated by teachers, pupils and MPs at the House of Commons. #CelebrateISA25 @Schools_British

Our work offers excellent value for money and delivers a direct economic benefit for the UK. We earn 85% of our income from partnership agreements, contracts, philanthropy, teaching and exams, and we also receive grant-in-aid funding from the UK government. We have no shareholders, so all profits are ploughed back into our work building international relationships for the UK. 🧵4/7
