MPD deployed tear gas at the intersection of E. Main and Middle Tenn. Blvd. A crowd of protesters was blocking the intersection and was almost hit by traffic. An armored vehicle was vandalized, a brick thrown through window of Whiskey Dix on Square. Curfew is in effect.

CAT IN THE HAT: MPD Rookie Ofc. Wes Cantrell and Field Training Ofc. Jessica Hawkins were flagged down by a driver at a bank asking for help removing a cat from his car's wheel well. Cantrell used his hat to rescue the little cutie. A friend fostered it & it was taken to PAWS.

A robbery suspect is in custody after ramming a patrol car, leading officers on a short pursuit on Cason Lane and causing a multi-vehicle crash at New Salem Hwy. A multi-agency investigation is currently underway.

Sgt. Keith Sanders sees a man he knows in the street using a walker. Turns out he had missed the Rover bus. Sanders concerned for the man’s safety gave him a ride. His name is Stanley, a Pearl Harbor War Veteran. He will turn 94 in May.
A man took his own life inside Peck Hall on the MTSU campus this morning. There was no threat to the campus. The man, a contractor worker, was in the building alone. Classes in Peck Hall have been canceled for the day. MPD is leading the investigation into the unattended death.
A routine traffic stop by Murfreesboro Police Department Directed Patrol Unit officers nets nearly three-quarters of a million dollars, drugs, and loaded guns on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Police arrested two people.

Murfreesboro Police Department has set up four mobile surveillance cameras at local retail establishments ahead of Black Friday shopping. The surveillance trailers will not only deter crime but will give police an extra set of eyes during the busy shopping week.

Several weeks ago, Ofr. W. Seal was patrolling a neighborhood and saw several youngsters throwing items at something in a tree on Benley Street. It turns out their football was stuck. Officer Seal helped get the football out of the tree, and started playing toss with them.
Body worn camera video shows the man charging a MPD officer with two large knives in his hands. The officer discharged his service weapon, striking the man. The 44-year-old man later died from his injuries at the hospital. The TBI is conducting an independent investigation.
