Nothing is a bigger slap into the face of the bullpen catcher than a pitcher doing a crow hop shuffle pull down halfway to home basically. Just saw this live. Catcher just catching pens for guys. Guy just got absolutely blown up and pitch has no clue. We should put a pitcher halfway to home and have exit velo reads off the tee right back at them lol. #CatchThis

This guy works harder than anyone… won’t take no for an answer… and he will do it with a smile… don’t be fooled though, he’s dangerous.
Switch-hitting James Hankerson Jr. provided the first home run of the preseason with this blast over the RF fence. Also had an exceptional pick at 1B today to help one of his pitchers out.

We have a coach on each game field Sunday dedicated to pitchers in the pens. Organizing. Keeping on schedule. If anyone says they are sorry we shut them down. In 2027 tryout alone we shut down around 8 arms. Already had bullpen video. 401 players in attendance. 62 coaches. It take a lot to organize to do it right.

We do a midweek bullpen at local facilities for players on Tuesday or Wednesday. Usually 15 or so pitches. Friday is showcase day for metrics. 3-4 throws from a position. Of course they warm up. And yes they probably max out as most won’t do anything under control. No pitching Friday. Saturday is a coach pitch scrimmage where hitters get a ton of action. No pitchers throw. Sunday is games with live pitchers. 12-15 pitches. We stopped doing bullpens Friday night after year one. Way too risky for Injuries. Local bullpens and organizing them are tough but the right thing to do. Impossible to have tryouts any other time of the year. We do ours the week right before high school tryouts as kids should be built up enough for a pen. And we only allow 15 pitches. We usually get players and parents asking to Throw more so they can show you what they have but in retrospect all we need to see is 8-10 pitches to a hitter.

2 years ago someone said 300 players at a tryout is impressive and puts @CBU_FL as one of the top in the country for numbers at a tryout. I said what about 400. They said they have never seen anything close to that and that it is “impossible” (and they cover the major events). 2 more players and we are absolutely capped out at 450 players this year signed up wanting to be a part of 🇺🇸CBU. First, thank you to our amazing families and coaches. You made CBU what it is. And a huge special thanks to the Fort Myers staff and sports commission on housing 450 players and granting us another complex. Let’s make it 3 complexes next year 😏
