Family man, yard mowing enthusiast. Voice for the reasonable majority, transcending partisan politics and ideological extremism. NH State Rep for Meredith
After extensive reflection and deliberation I’ve made the decision to change my party affiliation from democrat to republican to better align my party with my core values. As I reflect on the first half of my term it is abundantly clear to me my proper place in this body is on
Today, I voted on HB619, a bill requiring a person to reach the age of majority (18) for genital gender reassignment surgery. I voted to pass it with an amendment. Initially, this bill had stringent restrictions on gender transition care for adolescents, which I found too broad.
I cannot say enough how damaging of a campaign this will be for
@NHDems
. Losing focus on our state and siding with the DNC and putting Washington above NH voters is unconscionable. I don’t care who you support this isn’t about candidates this is about principle.

I was excited to find myself on
@ColinGBooth
’s
#NHpolitics
nice list. I’m looking forward to being back in the Granite state w/
@NHdems
for GOTV weekend to help
@joebiden
win his write in campaign.
Officially sworn in!!!! So honored to be given the privilege of representing the people of Meredith in the New Hampshire Statehouse. I’m excited to get to work.
Orientation day 1 of 3…. I love it! So much new stuff to learn and it’s amazing to see how this amazing institution takes 400 citizens and makes them into a effective govermental body.
Team Coker got a new addition a few days ago. She decided to come a little early to be here for prime yard season. I couldn’t be more happy to be working to make this world a better place for her.
I’m am truly honored to be given the privilege to represent Meredith in the Statehouse. I will pour 110% of my effort into faithfully representing our amazing town. I ran on a platform of bipartisan cooperation and will stand behind that promise.
#nhpolitics
“I’ll happily accept the badge of honor offered by "progressives"…..They are a small minority desperate to distract you from the catastrophic failures of the Biden admin.” Rep. Mike Sylvia 8/9/22….Well Sylvia looks like that small minority voted you out by 400 votes!!! 👋👋👋
I voted for
@MattforMeredith
. Out of the 80+ pieces of campaign literature I received in the mail, his was the only one with a dog on it. Plus he's a fellow pilot. The fact that I broadly agree with his vision didn't factor into the decision at all.
New Hampshire may not be perfect, but let's not act like it's the ninth circle of hell. We have jobs, low poverty rates, and low violent crime rates. Sure, we have issues with housing and drugs, but let's not let the outrage machine on both sides blow it out of proportion.
@NHKathySullivan
Ehhh… The smart ones I know are cheering on the write-in because they realize how weak a candidate Biden really is and how weak NH Dems look by writing in the guy who disenfranchised their voters.
It’s official! I have filed to be on the ballot. After years of Meredith not having its own representation in the Statehouse I hope to bring community focused, fiscally responsible leadership to Concord. Myself and my chief campaign manager (Maple) are very excited.
#NHpolitics
Not a fan of this 'our kids' notion. Parents call the shots on raising their kids. I may find it odd or subpar, that's not my call. Funding education? Sure thing! Not because I want a role in raising other kids but because I want productive citizens powering our societal engine.
This year's Father's Day will be memorable. Took my 12-year-old daughter to the driving range, and she nailed me in the face with her improved backswing. Gotta admit, I'm pretty proud. Look out,
@LPGA
, she's coming!
And then the vote total went live during the voting period and you could see the total in real time and it ended in a tie!!! It was intense!……. My families response….
The best compliment I think I’ve received in politics was from a guy at a local bar: ‘I’d never vote for the SOB if he runs as a Democrat, but Matt takes good care of our town in Concord.’ I’m not sure why, but I love it.🤣
There's big difference between wanting to beat your political opposition and wanting to ELIMINATE your political opposition. Wanting to ELIMINATE your political opposition is the most unamerican thing you can ever call for. It's not what we do in this country, it's not who we are
While I enjoy the spirited debates with you wonderful folks, my true joy lies in spending quality time with my family, hitting the lake for some boating, and perfecting my golf game. Hence, Im going to take a breather from this Twitter arena for a while. If you urgently need to
This Biden write-in campaign is really exposing what party politics has become: a multilevel marketing scheme where politicians and party officials suck up to the next level, and in this case, at the expense of New Hampshire Democratic voters.
@JasonSorens
I don’t have a dog in the Amherst election and I’ve heard you’re a good guy. However, I was in the thick of the Gunstock debacle and Freestaters we’re all over it.
I’m not riding with Biden on this one… NH is a great test for how a candidate will do with independent minded voters. This is will be a mistake by the DNC and I fear will lead to less electable candidates for the party.
First mow of the season! Ron Swanson once said, "You can tell a lot about the character of a person by their yard... and the grass may be greener on the other side, but it's a lot shorter after a good mowing!” Happy yard season to all who partake!!!
I can’t count the number of times I’ve sat through political meetings and heard, ‘We just have a messaging problem.’ I’ve come to think that’s just code for having a crap policy that people don’t want or don’t feel in their lives. When will Democrats wake up to this problem.
I campaigned on representing my communities will over all else. I backed Wilhelm because I felt we needed fresh leadership as Speaker to best do that. SOS I felt another approach was needed.I backed Scanlan, it was the clear feedback from my community. I will not hide my votes.
One thing I've taken away from my time in the House is how absurd after session twittering gets. I feel like the same kernel of truth is distorted in 90 ways to make each of the 90 different factions sound cool in their own echo chambers.
I’m proud to be an advocate for my fellow taxpayers when a politician tries to strong arm their agenda against the will of their constituents. I will always stand up as a voice of reason and accountability.
#NHPolitics
He's my seat mate. Despite our differences, I respect the fact that he has been elected, I'm looking forward to conversations this session with someone who sees things differently. I Don't agree with his bill, but in the end, his constituents will make the call.
@JasonGerhardNH
Even though Thanksgiving is a speed bump on the way to external illumination season I have to say I have a lot to be thankful for this year. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Only a couple more day before I can light up the house!
Had a great time listening to an inspiring message from
@Sen_JoeManchin
. He’s one of the last Blue Dog Democrats – not many of us left anymore! Thanks for the invite
@NathanRShrader
and
@NECPolitics
Lesser external illuminationists may say it’s been raining, it’s too wet to turn on my display….. but I say what if George Washington said it’s been raining I can’t cross the Delaware! Glory doesn’t care about the weather.
People talk about a 'national divorce' as if it's a casual option. Do they understand the human catastrophe that would come from America disintegrating into civil conflict? Let's not be flippant about the risks of tearing our nation apart.

,000ish
The
@NHHouseofReps
debate on HB 1683 are being printed in the permanent journal. Good luck reading those remarks with a straight face, future generations...😂
#IYKYK
Mike Sylvia and the representatives who enable him which is more than half of the current county delegation…. want the taxpayers to foot a 30k bill so he can us a “hammer” these people need to go in November. Vote local.
#nhpolitics
Fellow yard season combatants, though a spring Snowmageddon may have thrust a wrench into the commencement of yard season, let not your spirits be dampened. The moment for us to parade the majesty of contemporary lawn stewardship before the eyes of the globe is on the horizon.
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️, Mayor Michelle Wu would be one of the worst choices to convince New Hampshire independents or even soft Democrats to take any action. Her brand of Democratic politics is exactly why the Democrats have lost the working-class vote and have made Trump a viable option.
Big night in Belknap County!Commissioner meeting to approve or deny payment for Mike Sylvia and Norm Silbers legal campaign against Gunstock. A majority of our county delegation failed to hold them accountable lets hope the commissioners demand transparency.
#nhpolitics
First motion as a Rep to reconsider HB646! Motion carried, and my subsequent motion to retain the bill carried too. The car inspection system is flawed and needs to be fixed. The least we can do is work on this to see if we can make it work better for the people of NH.
#nhpolics
Here's my take on today, a point was made. No minds were changed, no compromises were made, and ultimately, all the bills that flipped will fail. The sad truth is, our politics have become so polarized that a few people being absent matters more than almost anything else.
I’ve personally, in my travels across the country, witnessed the border crisis and the lack of action on it spreading from city to city. I can’t blame
@GregAbbott_TX
for saying enough is enough. Thank you
@GovChrisSununu
for standing with Texas.
It’s quite funny to see the Write in Biden people supporting the
@NH_DOJ
, especially when they’re simultaneously advocating for the very person who suggested the move to the
@DNC
.
🤔🤔🤔…
#NHpolitics
What are you two trying to hide? I thought you believed in transparency? Even hiding the information from your fellow delegation members. This is not right.
#NHpolitics
Man colds suck. This month I've been hit hard by the daycare plague - every sniffle, every cough, it's like a symphony of snot and stomach bugs. Kids may be cute, but they're also tiny little germ factories.
I know many of you were concerned about my yard getting the upper hand. Good news!!!! I fixed the PTU cable myself. It’s amazing what you can do with elbow grease and enough cursing.
The last thing
@ChrisChristie
’s supporters should do is write in Biden. Regardless of what happens in New Hampshire, the
@DNC
has rigged the primary for Biden. Use your vote for the Republicans who at least bothered to have a fair primary.
Time to start investing in some marketing materials for my campaign . I'm committed to buying these things locally wherever possible. No one likes yard signs, but I'm told they're an integral part of our political process so here we are.
Oh, screw this. I’d show the citizens of the state that we have a backbone by telling the DNC not to bother. They didn’t care about unity when it helped their anointed candidate. Enjoy your hollow convention without us. What a joke.
