Used to think about where tennis was going @theracquet. Now probably writing code instead

@ievmartin @abh_hockey It's believable purely because exogenous demand shocks (covid) do seem to have rejigged ball supply chains (more coming from china) and there will be variation in material quality from different suppliers

@abh_hockey AFAIK more of the supply chain shifted to china (and Thailand and Pakistan) post 2019 and away from eu and philippines. Demand got very weird and hard to manage in the transition between covid (no demand) and post covid return to activity boost (too much demand)

The tour is telling players to ignore balls marks in favour of new electronic line calling on clay (because they often disagree due to physics of moving ball impact, restitution, clay movement). This is exactly what I said would happen four years ago
In or out? On clay, it’s hard to tell 🧱 That’s why we’ve introduced Live Electronic Line Calling: advanced technology more accurate than the human eye 🎯 = more consistent calls, no matter the conditions.

@abh_hockey I think VR might make Dq's more not less common. In-the-moment judgement of umpires when they sometimes don't even see the things that happened was a deeply imperfect method. I think multiple players have gotten away with should-be DQ's recently. I can see argument other way tho

@BarclayCard18 He’s an almost unfathomably hard worker when it comes to tennis. He will be poring over match footage to find angles of attack & defence that would outshine a bunch of coach/analyst teams who have been in the game for years. On top of unusual level of his own tennis ability

@kelamiata @AmyLundyDahl A fast slice serve isn’t ‘such a safe play’, it’s harder to execute than a traditional kick 2nd serve in middle of the box & will have meaningful double fault trade offs for some serve techniques. It didn’t ‘become unpopular’ it only emerged recently as part of serve optimisation

@jjvallejoa Sinner closest to this description. Right up there for both serve and return potency
