Just over five years ago I walked into Hyde Road depot and started an adventure. I’ve met many amazing people along the way and have been proud to serve Manchester.
Today might be my last working day here before a new adventure begins but I take many happy memories with me.

Good to see a graph on bus patronage that starts in 1955 not 1985. The period 55-85 is hugely important when putting into context changes in patronage as decline has little to do with bus regulatory regimes and everything to do with wider socio-economic changes.

Today was the last day for the legendary Sue Hayes who is retiring after an incredible 49 years with Yorkshire Traction and Stagecoach. Sue started as an Engineering Clerk in 1973 and retires as Operations Director. Thank you Sue for being a great mentor, friend and colleague!

Really important point here from Kevin. It just doesn’t feel right for govt to still be saying go to the pub, drink alcohol get drunk but don’t use public transport if you can at all avoid it 🤔
Lots of things reopening from 4th July but some thought must be given to the mental health of those without access to a car, who presumably are still only able to travel if essential. We need a blueprint for bus, coach and rail quick sharp!

In the next few months, South Yorkshire’s first electric bus fleet will start to operate from Stagecoach’s Rawmarsh Depot. We went up this afternoon to see progress on site and speak to the team. Someone took the opportunity to try out the driver’s seat.

This is Bailey Lane, Wythenshawe, the road should have been closed from today for 2 months for road works. We implemented a long diversion with extra buses but now no sign of the works starting today. This is why we need lane rental for road works.
