Where in the video did you see police action? The National Guard can be used to secure a border. I.e. They can set up deterrents, be used as spotters, that sort of thing. But they just cannot intercede or, more importantly apprehend. That would be a police action.

I’ve actually been saying that for a long time. The bad guys never think they will run into armed resistance. Especially if that armed resistance happens to look like a janitor, a cafeteria employee, or someone else innocent looking.
