We have Self-ID in 🇨🇦 they started transferring males when I was still in. There have been sexual assaults, physical assaults, pregnancies, abortions, and HIV passed on. One of the males beat up the woman he impregnated and she miscarried his baby. Incarcerated women are silenced

My favourite Narcotics Anonymous meeting is the women's meeting. We share, we cry, we hug, and we heal. The women talk about how they wouldn't be able to talk about these things if men were in the room. Women-only services are essential for women and girls in recovery.

Also, Trans prisoners are more likely to be in prison for an indeterminate sentence, and for violent offences. A much higher proportion are in for homicide-related offences.
Basically, trans prisoners are more likely to be the most dangerous ones.

Corrections have an overriding health and safety exemption clause to prevent some transfers like the 50% of transfer requests from sex offenders. Advocates in Canada are calling for the clause to be removed & for transfers to happen without exception.
