Interesting, but no surprise. The Kremlin is saying in private what they have been saying in public.
We got hold of a leaked Russian government report. It says Moscow wants to unite former Soviet countries under a “world view . . . where we write rules for the new world.” But the countries don’t want to be tied to Russia’s weakness – and face sanctions:

I was once a student at Moscow State University. A lot of respectable academics have been active there, throughout the years. Now they celebrate Stalin, with a bizarre picture of henchman Beria even blinking to the audience (see smaller photos).
When your alma mater is taken by the dark forces, it's a shame. Yet should I disavow it? I am genuinely uncertain - any advice is appreciated. My alma-mater, the Moscow State University, celebrated its 270th anniversary with a genuine shit-show featuring Stalin (on photo). Stalin, one of the most despicable tyrants in human history, was responsible for killing millions, including, well, famous professors and not-yet-famous students of the country's prime university at the time. On one hand, it is so embarrassing to have a degree (MA and PhD) from a place that proudly features Stalin, that in the recent years gave honorary degrees to bloody thugs like Belarus' Lukashenka, that let it's brave students and instructors who spoke against Putin and war to be imprisoned, that let charlatans with fake degrees and plagiarized books to teach in its walls... On the other hand, any university is not defined by those who took over. The Moscow State University is not its president, the semi-literate "mathematician", Putin's crony Sadovnichy and his gang. MSU is its graduates - Kandinsky and Kolmogorov, Vygotsky and Pasternak, Sakharov and Gorbachev, Knorozov and Drinfeld. The fact that instead of celebrating them, MSU celebrates Stalin and his thuggish associates is just a result of the university being taken over by force. A good person might be a victim of violence, a good institution might be taken by thugs - being a victim, a loser, or an exile does not make you bad. Good scientists might have lost to politically connected, corrupt administrators, but this does not make them any worse. Maybe I should still be proud of my alma-mater, even if it is taken by bad people right now.

@SvD
