A great post by Nico about Docker Miner and how HPC data centers can leverage it to monetize idle GPU time. Docker Miner is a great tool when it comes to using GPUs for data learning processes such as ChatGPT or DeepSeek. #deepseek #hpc #ai #LLMs #Bitcoin

Are GPUs still sitting idle amidst current AI demand? Surprisingly, yes—but context matters. While demand for top-tier GPUs (like NVIDIA’s H100) is sky-high, not all GPUs are equally sought after. The GPU rental market isn’t perfectly efficient, and even in times of soaring AI demand, idle capacity exists due to structural and operational inefficiencies. 🔹 Not All GPUs Are in Demand While high-performance GPUs are rarely idle, mid-tier and older models often experience underutilization. The demand is concentrated at the top, leaving lower-end GPUs with fewer takers. 🔹 Pricing and Market Misalignment Even when GPUs are racked and ready, poor pricing strategies can leave them unused. Overpriced rentals push customers to competitors or decentralized marketplaces. Minimum rental commitments can also exclude smaller clients, slowing down utilization. 🔹 Contractual Holdbacks Some data centers reserve GPUs for enterprise clients who don’t always use them continuously. Idle periods arise between AI training cycles, project launches, and client transitions. Despite the AI boom, inefficiencies in allocation, pricing, and contract structures mean GPUs aren’t always at full capacity. Did you know you can turn idle HPC server time into Bitcoin by using @NiceHashMining Docker Miner? Learn how to monetize unused GPU power in @DigMinSolutions latest article:

@philip_dath Not in a stable environment. In some countries this might happen yes, but in a stable regulatory environment this is less likely to happen

@patricklodder 0.5TH unit cannot be compared to 400TH unit when talking about decentralization. 1 million 0.5TH units equals 0.5EH Ping me once 10 million units are sold so at least 5EH are operational.

@patricklodder Bitaxe are great, but no real benefits in securing the network directly. Apart from playing with them, learning how mining works, nothing much to get our of those. To be fair, GPUs can be used to learn how mining works anyway.

@didar_bekbau @wsfoxley @BITMAINtech Most likely, it's a sudden drop in voltage or temperature. I can't see anything else that would cause physical damage to the chip.
