The former inhabitant of this tent was assisted by volunteers at Tent City for Change St. John's to have food, find an interim shelter location, then to secure an apartment, then we helped him get moved in, and then we helped him find a job.

We’ve just hit $3.6 million in expenditures to the comfort Inn. This is exactly the amount it would have cost to buy, ship, and place 100 tiny shelters, along with 2 central buildings for supports, kitchens, laundry, and washrooms.

Update: I took this young person to the new shelter at 10 St. Clare Oct 9.
Night 1 he stayed there.
Night 2 he was two minutes late for curfew and they told him to “F* off”.
He’s been on the street since.

This morning I posted on fb that a former tent city resident needed a little help financially to secure his housing and within 45 minutes people had donated the money. He now feels he has a foundation to build on.

Here’s what they are telling me they need:

We made the simplest of our asks for tent city about a month ask which was having bathrooms after 8 pm.
Instead of getting that from the city, the prov, or the feds, we find ourselves today with no bathrooms.
I can’t tell you how disappointed this makes me.
