CHECK THIS OUT --- from CT, this evening!!
We talk to the
@WFSBnews
viewer that took these pictures, and will show you their video of this likely tornado... at 11pm!
happy mother’s day to my amazing mom! pic is from her most recent visit when we stopped by main street creamery in old wethersfield. mint chocolate chip has been her lifelong favorite 😋
had a great evening catching up with
@BruceDePrest
at the charles in old wethersfield! a long overdue retirement dinner (thanks to covid)… glad we were able to finally gather and celebrate!

thanks to BMacphotography for the pictures!
today, we say 'goodbye' to
@ireneoconnorch3
it's become quite the trip down memory lane. sooo many great moments, from birthdays (primarily hers, lol) to fashion shows -- i'll never forget the fun we've had... at, and outside, of work!
can't believe this was 6(!) years ago...
happy summer solstice, enjoy the longest day [most daylight] of the year 😀
(meanwhile: expect highs today in the upper 70s/lower 80s, not a heat index 90+)
😲43 years!!!
@BruceDePrest
is closing one chapter to start the next....
lots of great coverage planned for this week, and of course you'll seem him on
@WFSBnews
until 12.31!
Did you miss the special announcement? 📣 Our beloved
@BruceDePrest
is going to retire at the end of December. Help us celebrate him and his incredible time at
@WFSBnews
. 🥲
winter storm watch is now up statewide...
here is a look at our *preliminary* snow forecast for
#winterstormbailey
.... given we're still 48 hours out from when the first flakes will fly
Wow! I woke up this morning to messages about a new promo airing on
@WFSBnews
... if you haven't seen it yet, here it is --- what nice work by our Creative Services (promotions) Department, a special nod to Brian and Nick that worked their magic!
what a perfect fall day for the

@EversourceCT
races… my mom’s in towns for the weekend, so in lieu of the half, walked the 5k this year… so much fun!
unrelated to the arctic air and wind...
some brighter news, literally! between now and the end of the month, we'll gain 40 more minutes of daylight. AND by the end of the month, sunset moves into the 5p hour!
With growing confidence that over 6" of snow will fall across CT, we've decided to name the storm... "Aspen" !
We're still 48 hrs out from the 1st, so this forecast will likely evolve, in the meantime here is our initial/preliminary outlook...
Much more ahead on
@WFSBnews
!
unrelated to the impending/upcoming storm...
our gain of daylight since winter is notable, but more impressive: since our *earliest sunset* in december (4:19pm), we've added over 1 hr of daylight in the afternoon alone!
don't shoot the messenger 🙄
today is our last sunset in the 8 o'clock hour!
and get this, we've already lost 1hr and 8min of daylight since the summer solstice. so just take this information as motivation to celebrate and savor each and every minute of it...
thank you, connecticut, for making
@WFSBnews
your first and preferred choice for weather coverage - it means a lot to our team! ...most recent example was yesterday during the snow and ice event,

it's a big month for daylight... as we gain nearly 90 minutes! also to note, not this weekend but next, daylight saving time begins (the weekend after that is the vernal equinox, 03.20 at 5:37pm) ☀️☀️☀️ who's excited about this!?
ta-da! the ceremonial flipping of the switch ✅ 😃 ...holiday light fantasia opens thanksgiving day and runs thru 01.03, thu-sun, 5-10p ...benefiting

apologies for the confusion this morning...
yes, it's only wednesday --- but it's also

so i had to wear one (today's is made from cork!)
soooo, this is happening:
#winterstormFERRIS
snow ramps up mon night, heavy tue am... a high impact storm - poor visibility w/ rates of 1-2"(+)/hr, wind gusts over 40mph (more power outages). however, a shift in track could have big implications for ct, more on
@WFSBnews
at 630p!
while the forecast is still evolving, this maps conveys our latest thoughts on snow accumulation from what we will be calling
#WinterStormBobby
... more on the timeline, impacts... ahead at 4pm on
@WFSBnews
with precip starting in roughly 48 hrs from now... here is our initial map for snow totals from winter storm abel. it will likely require some tweaking as we move forward... but it looks to be a plowable, long duration, high impact event. we'll have much more on
@WFSBnews
at 12p!
latest guidance: henri will be a high impact storm for ct! with a westward shift, the worst of the wind (70+mph gusts) could be realized here. furthermore, 2-5" (up to 8") of rain could fall. additionally, the full moon in tandem with the wind heightens coastal flooding concern!
looks who is back!

primarily cloudy today in ct, but dry... a bit cool for early june, but perfect weather for
#GlobalRunningDay
! got in a speed workout, 15x1min @ a sub 6-min pace, fun fun! there is still time, get out and log some miles today ;)
snow develops around midnight, continues into sat am before ending. it will be plowable for many. given this, because we've upped our totals, the storm is getting a name: XENA! in order for a storm to get a name, we need to be forecasting 6" (+) of snow for much of the state
the recent dimming of the sun here in ct is compliments of the wildfires out west... the upper level wind flow has been transporting the smoke all the way to the east coast. silver lining: it's aloft, so there is no health concern
just wrapped a speedwork session on the treadmill... a

with some snow in the forecast, we need YOUR help coming up with our list of winter storm names! this is a
@WFSBnews
tradition (started in 1971)... one that we're proud to carry on today --- the theme for this upcoming season will be pet names!
back at it! 🏃
@rpolanskyWFSB
and i haven’t run together since before the pandemic started — was great to get out on a 70+ degree day for a 4 mile run (~8 min/mi pace… lol, no where near

distance or speed!)
didn’t get a chance to post yesterday, but
@karasundlun
and i share the same work anniversary date (07.10)... i’m starting year 17 at
@WFSBnews
, she’s kicking off year 20! 😳😀 (we both began doing weekend evenings, before transitioning to the noon show together)
first & foremost, tomorrow (wed) is dry & bright; but, cold & breezy...
our NEXT storm arrives thu, ends fri --- there is still a lot to be ironed out regarding the track (therefore if/where mixing/rain happens), but here is our early call on the possible snow accumulation
After an early morning lull, we anticipate another 2-4" of snow as the day progresses. Precipitation fills in statewide, and as temps drop lingering rain switches to snow. Much more with team coverage all morning on
@WFSBnews
as a storm evolves, so does our forecast... here's an updated look at totals for this one.
we still expect a transition (south to north), from a mix (already occurring along the shoreline) to even rain as the night progresses
