We complain, rightly, about how damaging woke ideology is. But the Pakistani rape gang horror is the case that utterly damns woke culture to hell. It literally and directly resulted in the torture and rape of thousands of girls and young women. Over many years. All because people with western values didn't want to offend anyone or look racist. Now, if anyone holds to woke culture, we can no longer say, "well, they have good intentions" or "they are just misguided", or some other excuse. No, they are simply evil.

@krassenstein @elonmusk Ok fine. But when paid through inefficient and bureaucratic govt agencies, the prices go thru the roof to stupid levels. That is the problem. Just because something is useful doesn't mean it has to funded by massive governments. That's the way to make useful things unuseful

Sometimes you're so, well, stupid. Do you think people will suddenly go to incandescent bulbs? Have you ever heard of choice? People will still have the choice to go with LED bulbs. I will. And changing bulbs will not result in a 10x increase lol. Lighting is a small fraction of overall use. It's tiny compared to A/C, heating, cooking, water heater, it goes on...

@ryangrim Supposedly a bunch of abuses by corporations. But back after 2008, I thought most of the sad sack stories of abuse were contrived. They were almost all about people being stupid, irresponsible, or shady themselves. We already had and have laws against actual fraud.

@ggreenwald What exact "abuses" by corporations are you talking about? Even back after 2008, I thought most of the sad sack stories of abuse were contrived. They were almost all about people being stupid, irresponsible, or shady themselves. We already have laws against actual fraud.

@EdKrassen "bipartisan" commissions and studies ALWAYS take forever, spend a lot of money, and come up with recommendations that come to nothing. They are always useless. They are EXACTLY what doge is trying to avoid.

The Catholic church will welcome you with open arms. They have a loving, comprehensive adult initiation process. You end up being confirmed and baptized during the Easter Vigil mass. It's the most extensive and beautiful mass of the whole year. In my church, adults can actually walk into our baptismal font to be baptized. It is all so powerful to become part of the real universal Church that Jesus and the apostles founded. I know because I went through all of it.

@HistoryBoomer But you personally encountered two of them. Don't you think that's kind of a high rate.

@krassenstein If he does that, the only thing they will do is obstruct and try to stop things. They are so wedded to govr power that any cut is crazy to them. They simply cannot comprehend that the government is bloated, far beyond its constitutional bounds, and needs to be slashed deeply.

@DeztroReal @astroEdLu @b612foundation I think tsunamis are hard to model. The coasts of South America and centrala Africa would seem to bear the brunt. I assume those regions are heavily populated, but as much as India?
