The entire sequence was animated in advance - therefore - due to the control of prep - we could determine the dimensions of each shot to create the “packed to the rafters” effect of the revellers prior to the carnage. We started with 150 avatars & it grew to 246 depicted on film.

THE COLLECTED is coming! Like The Collector and Arkin: WEAR A MASK! Like Nico Vega: STAND TALL AMERICA!! We are coming!!! (As soon as it is safe to simulate danger again!)

The razor blades were real... but dulled... I wanted to see my finger skin ripple under the pressure of Arkin's decision. In the test teaser... I forgot to dull the razors. OUCH.

"How did The Collector set up all of those traps so quickly?" Well, we had to, too. A van pulled up, dressed the set, one at a time, and so I timed it. It took 3 hours. Arkin is off screen in his thriller plot for an entire night. The van is a housing for pre-built dangers.

Holy Guacamole... This is where the fun begins! Special shout to KORN for giving us "The Collector's" nursery rhyme-esque entrance. Hope to reprise this in C3!

We can't wait to unleash the third film. In our 8 days... we set the tone back to this level right here. Constant. Foot down. Horror Vs Hope.

Thriller: Violence is more of a threat than an absolute. Suspense over physical violence. Horror: lives beyond the threat. The violence is an engine humming in the dark.

Josh Stewart is not only a consummate pro actor but a nature enthusiast - the idea in the body language was to create the dynamic of a Spider hunting a Fly. Josh will twitch, move in grace... while the Collector calmly sets up demise after demise even around his prey.

I can’t thank you enough for inquiring. Every single one of these tweets & questions inspires us to keep punching forward to create the very best “Collector” we can. Thank you from the top, middle and bottom of our bloody hearts! A trailer shall unleash once we safely wrap!

Diane Goldner not only acted in this movie but also acted in our concept reel for the film that also featured Clu Gulager as “Roy,” Tom Gulager as “Arkin,” and was shot by John Gulager who also directed 4 projects with us. The Gulagers are selfless teachers.

The cat scene... goodness... We were never allowed to add anything with animals, fire, explosions, cars, rain or fog in the SAW films. The difficulty of this shoot reminded us why... but the results still howl "Then why not?!"

Who plays The Collector? Juan Fernandez, Steve Upton, Gary Tunnicliffe (amazing hands of death!), Tom Gulager (who was so into character he bruised his rib), Patrick Melton (the over the doorframe shot_, and yours truly as “The hands vs the Officer.”

The OG Opening was a gated community with one dark house being checked on by a security officer. The song "Lunatic Fringe" is playing inside... the officer pushes open the front door and... BLOOD, BOOM, BAM! He ends up being blasted back and impaled on the gate.

Absolutely yes on the "Giallo Hands" reference. In fact, when Andrea was just stabbed, her first gasp is the same gasp from DEEP RED's opening kill.

The original opening scene was cut due to time/budget - So we invented our own at the home of a former Navy Seal in California. That house was special to us for it is the same home we shot most of the concept teaser that helped sell the film.

This scene was our first day. Robert Wisdom set a marvelous bar. He is so fun to watch with Josh. There is no "Thriller Threat" without Robert to get Arkin to face the "horror threat" of The Collector.

Andrea Roth - Funny, talented, and when she reflected the horror of the film… it hit home in a way that shaped our tone. We weren’t playing an exaggeration or a characterization of violence… when Andrea speaks… it felt so very real. Hence: No music. Just her and Josh.

To share “awesome “ with the world. To prove there is hope in being a misfit.
To reveal people who say nice things behind other’s backs exist.
And; To prove “Xtro” has every right to exist as “X-Men”... and just maybe... be surprised by the kindness we witness when rebels win.

Haley Pullos. Her eyes are the entire “Why?” Arkin is who he is and does what he does. Although not heavy on dialogue, the scene between Arkin and his child is why we had to shoot two weeks of this film on our own. It was the core. Not the violence. But without that core…

The opening credits is a testament to why I love film. Digital definitely has fine qualities but every filter, stock change (35 mm to 16 mm reversal Kodak stock), tilt-shift lens, macro shot of spider leg fibers… sing on film in a way that feels like painting .

The Spider and The Fly finally go head to bleeding head as the thriller character resorts to horror techniques to flip the script back into his favor. Now, given away of all of his violence... he is a dad desperate to save a child and go home. Josh and Karley & Juan hit it!

Robert Sarzo also contributed some tremendous music for this sequence and the ending moments that lend to more of a haunted acoustic vibe as if the spider's web is tightening around the flies.

The opening credits was added a few months prior to the release when the gracious budget of Liddell Ent. alowed us to have a proper opening, soundtrack, ending, and inserts to complete the higher price-points of the shoot.

There may be many favorites along the way…but the track “Burning Force” from “Firestarter” is still worthy of heavy rotation. Go, Charlie, Go!

I love it when Arkin shoves Larry back into the crate. It is Arkin still trying to live in the rules of a "Thriller" but the "Horror" movie characters keep popping up around him. That shove back into the crate is Arkin saying: "I can still be in a thriller!" Nope.

The name of "ARKIN" is inspired by actor Alan Arkin's character from WAIT UNTIL DARK. He played the heroin hunting predator, and his name is used in The Collector for the idea was: "What if that guy wasn't the worse person in the room?"
