One of my favourite things in football is the:
“go on”
*moment of silence*
“GO ON!”
*moment of silence*
YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I’ve been trying to steer clear of posting photos of empty shelves but I’ve just been into my local Sainsbury’s for the basics and this amused me.... and also reinforced my belief that we have a lot of stupid people in this country - literally the only beer left in store.
What they want at Anfield is for opposition managers to roll up wearing smart side-partings and lovely cardigans, whose teams lie down and usher in nine goals for the tourists to clap and video on their iPhones.
The shit Sean Longstaff gets on here is relentless and whilst he might not be a Gerrard, he’s a permanent fixture in a team sitting 3rd in the Premier League.
His work rate is fantastic. Credit where credit’s due.
That two seconds when the ball went back to Pickford who miscued sideways to Branthwaite, who tried volleying clear only to overhead kick it for a corner - it was glorious 👏🏻
Gary Neville: “Unacceptable from Newcastle” against Manchester City. “Unacceptable from Arsenal” against Manchester City (twice in a week). “Unacceptable from Chelsea” against Manchester City. Perhaps Manchester City are really, really good?
"There is no difference in terms of status, support, size and pool of the club." 🗣
Sunderland boss Michael Beale insists the Black Cats are as big as their rivals Newcastle ahead of their crunch FA Cup derby 💥
@simonbird_
Jamie Redknapp thinks Newcastle are struggling because the city of Newcastle doesn’t produce footballers anymore.
This lot are on a different planet. they’re paid for this patter
As a journalist
@MiguelDelaney
has every right to ask questions about the owners of Newcastle United - but the fact he’s employed by a Russian oligarch and Saudi billionaire seriously dilutes his credibility.
Carragher just said this Villa performance “reminds me of Newcastle last night trying to hang on against Chelsea”
“Hang on” - Nick Pope had absolutely nothing to do 😂
Gerrard spent £60,000,000 on Dendoncker, Digne and Coutinho. Another £90,000,000 went on Bailey, Ings and Buendia. For those of you who struggle with maths, that’s £150,000,000 on six average footballers
#BecauseOfMoney
Almost impossible now to revive big PL clubs without huge money to spend. Gerrard had no chance at Villa, Marsch will find the same at Leeds. Newcastle bucking the trend. Because of money.
Newcastle manager and tactical maestro Steve Bruce is blaming the left midfielder he brought on at right back (after releasing a right back who was playing more regularly than the right back who started tonight) for not passing on tactical instructions quickly enough 🤷🏼♂️
Listening to talksport -
@laura_woodsy
just asked Kieran Dyer who deserves credit for Joelinton’s conversion to a dynamic midfielder. Dyer says ‘Newcastle fans won’t like me saying this but Steve Bruce played him in midfield…. Credit to Steve Bruce’
Total and utter nonsense
I’m absolutely stunned by reports that some Premier League clubs would rather have a Mike Ashley owned, non-competitive, sleepwalking Newcastle United than a rich and ambitious competitor in the league.
When everyone calms down I wonder if any Arsenal fans will reflect on how poor their team were last night? They struggled to create anything against a seriously depleted NUFC.
Magnificent post-match deflection job by their manager
So in summary:
A Sheikh has bought Newcastle but the deal is yet to be agreed
He is a gazillionaire but he might not have two pennies to rub together
He’s the half brother of the Man City owner but no relation
He’d love Rafa to stay but might not want Rafa to stay
Really awkward viewing on BT as Jenas desperately tries to defend Bruce and the current Newcastle United, under probing questions from Jake Humphreys - and just ends up stuttering before giving short, one word answers
I was really opposed to Steve Bruce continuing on as Newcastle manager after he fell out with half the players & delivered only 2 wins in 20, leaving the club hurtling towards the Championship & possible financial ruin
But then I heard Agbonlahor defending him & now I’m not sure
The Mike Ashley takeover blueprint:
1) ‘Reveal’ takeover talks are ‘ongoing’ in November/ December ☑️
2) Wait and observe☑️
3) Declare doubt that interested party has the finance☑️
4) Get through transfer window
5) Call off talks, declare full commitment to NUFC
6) Disappear
The bloke picked a side to combat West Ham’s physicality and then left the team unchanged against a Brighton side that couldn’t be more different to West Ham - because it wouldn’t have been ‘fair’ to make changes 🤣
Absolute top-line thinker. No depth there at all.
On starting Carroll ahead of Almiron: "With the benefit of hindsight. But when you are 2-0 down after seven minutes. It would have been unfair not to start Andy after last week."
#nufc
🚨 Jordan Henderson leaning towards accepting life-changing Al Ettifaq offer. 33yo set to decide imminently. Would quadruple Liverpool wages. Gerrard driving pursuit. If Henderson approves, clubs will immediately hold talks on deal

Don Goodman could see why handball was given when the ball hit Joelinton’s hip, but thinks that one where Armstrong clearly handled the ball was harsh 😂
“Listen, some people will have you believe that Newcastle fans demand Champions League football. That’s not the reality. Right now all they want from his team is a shot on target.”

Outside of

they believe we’re deluded, expect Mbappé to sign soon and a cup to follow shortly after
Inside of
#NUFC
we’re buzzing because they’re cleaning the windows
In commentary Jenas just told a great little tale about Sir Bobby giving them Christmas Day off as a treat - then the players ‘went to Blackburn on Boxing Day and got beat 3-0’, so they never got Christmas off again
Thing is though it was 1-0 and it was December 28th…..
Credit to this lad for his display yesterday in a week when other soon-to-be out of contract players opted not to play for their clubs. At 26 he could easily have just sat tight and waited for a new contract and free transfer payday elsewhere
This is one of the least attractive Newcastle United teams of my 40+ years and we’ve had some shockers. That’s not a knee jerk comment - we are woeful. Negative, rarely score, ugly football and boring to watch. Good players going backwards. Struggling for a positive
#NUFC
What summed it all up was late on, Shelvey’s superb ball to Joselu who took seven touches to control it, by which time he was closer to the corner flag than the goal. One of the most pitiful signings we’ve ever made
As anyone who actually watches Newcastle knows, Joelinton dropped back into midfield after Ciaran Clark was sent off early at home to Norwich under Eddie - and he’s never looked back. Bruce wouldn’t have dreamed of such a thing (cc

@GNev2
Alreet GNev? Any thoughts on Rafa’s Newcastle having more shots on target in that City game than Allardyce’s Everton team managed against Chelsea and Man Utd combined?
I often see people on here suggesting Ritchie isn’t good enough and should’ve been sold but they might change their mind when they see what we’re missing for the next couple of months. His attitude is a vital part of the team mentality. He’ll be a huge miss.
#NUFC
Something dawned on me tonight that has blown my mind. I took this photo of my dad on Wembley Way before the 98 FA Cup final - and he was only 18 months older than I am now. Seems like no time ago 🤯
If this takeover news is true I hope the new owners aren’t too hasty in sacking Steve Bruce. Make no mistake, he’s earned the right to dust himself down, roll up his sleeves and spend the first £500 million. The players need him.
#NUFC
Get rid of Shelvey. One of the highest earners at the club but I’ve lost count of how many goals we’ve conceded because he can’t be arsed. He’s an absolute disgrace to the shirt. No surprise he loves Bruce and his easy going training.
Disgusting attitude from NUFC today. Manquillo couldn’t wait to get off, Hayden quite clearly had no interest in playing. Yellow or red, it was a totally idiotic pointless tackle.
The last week has shown that Liverpool are probably the least popular team in the country for ‘neutrals’ and I think it mostly has to do with this type of incessant nonsense rather than the club/ players/ manager or whatever. It’s totally relentless
Klopp is so right. No other club would have had their fans in the streets after Saturday. They are winners and favourite for next season's competitions because the manager has created a powerful winning culture and very high standards
Dear Mike,
This is a really real letter with no actual content but I am definitely really buying the club. Let’s hope we sell loads of tickets for the Blackburn game and those bloody fans stop moaning about signings (LOL)
Yours forever and truly,
Lee Char...I mean Peter Kenyon
I really, really hope Steve Bruce succeeds. I hope he does a Hughton and turns the crowd opinion completely around.
But I’m 41 & he’s been a football manager for more than half of my life, & those 21 years haven’t provided a single reason for me to think he will be successful.
Almiron just rivalled the 800m world record in chasing and hassling defenders and the keeper only for Martin Keown to seriously suggest he could’ve tried harder 🤦🏼♂️ 😂
#oxfnew
What was the SJP DJ thinking at full time last night playing Que Sera Sera, full length, full volume at full time - killing the crowds efforts to sing. Less is more pal, less is more
When I was a teenager deadline day Newcastle transfer rumours revolved around players like Roberto Baggio and
(pre Arsenal) Dennis Bergkamp. These days it’s a Leicester reserve or a young player who can’t get into the worst Arsenal team in years. I feel sorry for the younguns😂
