So when Trump blathers about "working things out" with the Russians and the Ukrainians that's just campaign talk. The point was to be sworn in as President and shed the ongoing criminal prosecutions that would likely have landed him in jail. In reality Trump hasn't got the slightest idea what to do in Ukraine. But that was never his objective.
