Deeply saddened by the passing of Captain Jon McBride. Many will remember him as a great NASA astronaut, but I will always remember his kindness and compassion for others. 💖 My thoughts and prayers are with his family. @jamcbride RIP and THANK YOU @AstroMcBride
Today we remember Jon McBride, Naval Officer and NASA Astronaut. McBride was selected as an astronaut candidate in January 1978 and became an astronaut in August 1979. He was pilot of STS 41-G aboard the Orbiter Challenger, the first crew of seven, logging 197 hours in space. Godspeed, Jon.
