We are just back from the most grueling, most epic, most insane trip ever! A 9 days, 2400kms trip circumnavigating Lake Turkana from the eastern shores to the western shores!
All the cars made it! It was quite a motley group of cars!

Yesterday, we arrived safely in Manyara and settled in for the night under a stunning Tanzanian sky. Today, we’ve been tackling an epic 600km stretch across Tanzania, bound for Iringa. The landscapes have been nothing short of spectacular. We’re excited for what still lies ahead!

Howdy Zambia! The Nomads have ‘landed’. May the open roads lead to hidden gems, the skies bless us with endless blue, and the memories we craft be as vast as the horizon. 🤝
Postcards from Lake Malawi. Waking up to the serene lull of waves and soaking in the quietude. A tale of adventure, peace and the simple joys of Nomad life.
🎉 Exciting News Alert! 🎉
Mara Nomads community has been featured in Business Daily as the country's most adventurous travel community!
Huge shoutout to our amazing Nomads who make our adventures legendary & a big welcome to those adventurous folks who wish to join us!
On our way to Mbeya from Iringa, we met the ‘crazy’ Japanese adventurer, Gump Suzuki, currently crossing Africa on foot with his rickshaw! His journey is pure adventure and unbreakable spirit. There’s truly no excuse not to explore - just guts and a lot of determination!

A thread about Nguruman, Shompole & Lake Natron.
About campfires, banter, dust, being stuck, making new friends, new experiences, watching sunsets and
All these happened just a mere 100kms from Nairobi.

After the frustration at the border, we settled into our first Malawian campsite in Chitimba and it was worth the wait. The serene lakeside, breathtaking sunsets and warm campfires melted away the day’s frustrations. These are the little moments that remind us why we journey.
Subaru ya mambaru imekam na kinini?!
Story time.
This Subbie Forester XT made it going round Lake Turkana, a hardcore 2400kms!
It never stalled. Rocks, deep sand, mud (in this photo), sharp and round gravel, & everything, it took them on!
📍Sibiloi NP (close to Koobi Fora)
We arrived in Mbeya last evening to a chilly but beautiful campsite nestled in the farms. The crisp air and serene surroundings are the perfect backdrop to unwind. As the sun set, we gathered around the campfire, sharing stories and reminiscing about the day under the stars.

This is how the Isiolo to Moyale road was in 2008, some 15 years ago.
If you have been to Samburu National Park, Mt. Ololokwe, or even Marsabit town, can you imagine this?
May old man Baks rest in peace!

How our Easter adventure went!
We took off to the north to Marsabit then explored the stunning landscapes of Samburu and Buffalo Springs.

On 1 June 2023, a fearless band of 51 Kenyans unshackled themselves from fear & embarked on an extraordinary adventure.
A tale of scorching heat, treacherous sand, ancient warriors, lunar landscapes, breathtaking views, mysterious Suguta Valley & enigmatic Aruba Rock!
🧵
We are obsessed by this place!
Lake Logipi.
One of the most beautiful places in the world and Kenya, yet located in the one of the most inhospitable places.
The region has been called the "last great frontier". It's almost inaccessible and brutal (due to the heat). 1️⃣

Malawi - Songwe Border was a test of patience. Waited for 8 hours as we fought to get our documents processed. This frustrating experience is a stark reminder of the challenges of inter-African travel. As Africans, we should be able to move freely across our beautiful continent.

3,500 kms of road adventure led us here, on the edge of something incredible. The journey tested our limits, but the breathtaking views of the Falls just ahead are the ultimate reward.

There’s something about Lake Ellis that always pulls you in… the fresh air, the views and the sense of being part of something that doesn’t need a schedule or a plan.
In the list of things you should do in this life, add driving down to Lake Turkana in time for the sunset. When the sun becomes a huge orange blazing ball of flame and the water shimmers in the light..
We met the Pokot people and had a blast!
Got baptized as a Pokot "elder" (frame 4) 😂 Turns out they're not just fierce warriors, but also stylish hair gurus with killer jokes. It's a shame their badass reputation overshadows their fun side.😄
For us its not just about the destination; it's about the journey, the lessons learned, friendships forged, breathtaking destinations explored, and the memories made.
For we are the Nomad Nation!
Another dope trip loading..
A 3 days, 2 nights weekend trip to the breathtakingly beautiful Kapsimotwa Gardens from 10 to 12 March 2023, open to Self-Drive guys and all car types.
A perfect trip to weekend warriors.
Carry your grills!
Story time!
That Nissan Xtrail T30!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It never skipped a beat!
Both the car & the driver were impeccable 👌!
It broke a stabilizer link, but the owner ni nani, spares zote she had them!
Nothing warms our hearts more than guys coming to say hi to us on the streets, in malls, highway etc.
Coming back from UG, this Safari LC kept on flashing its headlights at us from the rear, kumbe ni ma-fans!
It had 4 kids with dad & mum. Kids told dad to stop

Extended highlights at Magnet Hill: The initial cars ‘breezed’ through, but as more Nomads went up, some vehicles dug into the road, leaving a trail of boulders that added an extra layer of excitement and difficulty for those at the rear.
This is what real adventure looks like. Not every day is Instagram-perfect and that’s exactly why we love it. If you can survive the chaos, you can enjoy the views.
Rising to touch the heavens, this Church is the most epic church in Kenya!
A place of worship so high up that it touches the clouds. A spiritual journey that reaches new heights.

If only Laser’s wheels could speak - from towing 2-tonne beasts, to traversing endless miles across Africa. Every tread tells a story, but now, Laser’s wheels could use a refresh to keep up. Tyre companies, if you’re looking for a partner in adventure, here’s your time to shine.
🤔 Chief Nomad pondering: "TGIF! But where to weekend? Which remote wonderland or dusty expedition should i take on this weekend?"
Any wild suggestions, Nomads?
Epic mountains, hellish valleys, roads so atrocious, blistering heat, but 28 cars made it to Suguta Valley sand dunes and back! 🚗💨🏜️
Nothing could stop us!
On June 1, 2023 we shall visit the most badass place in Kenya, Suguta Valley!
A place so remote that the only people who have visited it, have done so by air, in a KES 6.5M+ flight.
This 5-day Suguta Valley 4x4 Expedition will be from June 1 - 5. It's available to 4x4s only.
When the views are this epic, you just have to take to the skies. As we glide over the Falls, the sight of the Zambezi cascading down is pure magic. You’re not just seeing the Falls; you’re living them. This is a moment that stays with you long after the chopper lands.
Mosi-oa-Tunya - ‘The Smoke That Thunders’ a.k.a Victoria Falls - comes alive. The sheer power of the Falls, mist rising like smoke and the thunderous roar remind us of nature’s raw beauty. This is why we journey, to find the breathtaking, the unforgettable.
After a grueling 700 km journey from Lusaka, traversing the rugged, remote stretches of Zambia, we finally arrived at Kapishya Hot Springs. Stepping into the crystal-clear, warm waters made all the aches, dust and long hours fade away - replaced by pure serenity.
There's something magical about floating down the Zambezi at sunset. The colours of the sky blend into the water and everything just feels right. The laughter shared, the quiet reflections and just the simple joy of being here.

At Murchison Falls, River Nile squeezes through an 8m wide gorge and plunges with a thunderous roar into the “Devil’s Cauldron”, creating a trademark rainbow.
We did it fam!!
We made it to Suguta Valley and Aruba Rock!
What a trip!
This was the hardest expedition the

Greatness tupu!

As we wrap up our 18-day, 6,800 km L. Malawi and Victoria Falls Expedition, the journey feels complete, yet it leaves us yearning for more. The rugged landscapes, the endless roads, the vibrant sunsets, the crackling campfires, the shared meals — these moments will stay with us.
Not all heroes wear capes; some wear grease-stained shirts and crawl under cars. It hasn’t been all smooth sailing, our rigs decided to give us a crash course in roadside mechanics. But hey, what’s an overland adventure without a little drama? Keep calm and carry a spanner 🔧

After changing a tire without a jack, we now now carry 3 of them.. 😂😂
Wueh! That was an experience! But one thing about us, we are always creative and always get back home.
