So great to have you out here, wonderful talk and great myeloid cell-organoid discussions afterwards.
@LuRongze @UcsfPspg @UCSFCancer @NeurosurgUCSF Thanks so much @LuRongze for hosting me for my first invited seminar talk as faculty! Was wonderful to visit with you and Winson, @doctorcorces @josephcostell14, @ManishKAghi, @LabRaleigh, and others! And even got in a curbside consult on pediatric brain tumor organoid case 😁

Great to be a part of this study from @kumarlabucb, part of our ongoing collaboartive studies of how the unique makeup of the GBM extracelluar matrix facilitates tumor invasion
Work done as part of our ongoing, exciting collab w @ManishKAghi. Congrats @junghwacha and team!

Great work Varun and colleagues - this will be very impactful !
Great collaborative study with @Prevedel_Lab led by @StellaSoyka @MarcCSchubert @AmrTamimi9! This technology platform will help us investigate brain tumors where they intermingle with white matter fibres and are hard to detect. See here how we can fly through the cortex and reach the corpus callosum! Tweetorial will follow soon! @embl @uniklinik_hd #CancerNeuroscience

Out today in @Cancer_Cell, @meeki_lad from my lab shows that skull bone marrow contributes "hybrid neutrophils" to GBM with antigen-presenting capacity allowing an anti-tumoral response. Intracalvarial AMD3100 releases these cells and prolongs survival!

Unfortunately the success rate matching when concurrently applying for a second specialty is not great as the second specialty doesn't like being the candidate's backup plan. It's tough on the mentor and applicant but best to identify those unlikely to match ahead of time.
@DrDiGiorgio Being successful doesn’t necessarily mean in entering neurosurgery. Where do these unmatched students go ….prelim year purgatory and ultimately many failing the next year. Should we advise back up plans up front for some students when we’re reaching over 25% unmatched rates?
