This morning, those of us on board Africa World's Embraer 145 commercial flight to Tamale were joined by an unexpected passenger. I don't know how often it happens, but this is the first time I have heard or seen Ghana's president or vice president on a local commercial flight.
So who is this man? Do tourists have to ask who he was, what position he held and the period he lived? Where's his name, position and the necessary details we see on busts of important figures across the world?
It's my 10th anniversary as an investigative journalist. I do not take it for granted that under John Mahama's presidency, journalists and civil society groups felt very safe and secure to do critical journalism and activism. Thank you, Mr. President.

Pay your workers well. You’re buying luxury cars and properties while those helping you to make the money can’t rent a decent single room with what you pay them. They’re humans.
The power that can shut down radio stations should be able to stop the Chinese and other illegal miners from destroying your lands, forests, water bodies and imperiling future generations.
The work you gave me was part-time. You gave me a good salary and enough benefits as compensation. I don't think you again have to give me 365,000 Cedis after four years. Kindly take back the money.
This is what Togbe Afede did. It's that simple. But, to some, it is a crime.
Dear Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa,
I have followed with enormous admiration how you put yourself wholly into the humanitarian crisis that was occasioned by the spilling of the Akosombo Dam.
If a Ghanaian journalist is caught filming the Jubilee House, he’ll be manhandled and it will be justified by National Security protocol. Caleb Kudah was beaten for filming abandoned cars in the National Security yard.

In 2001, I completed junior high school with the best result in the Krachi District (now Krachi West, Krachi East, and Krachi Nchumuru municipalities and districts). When the results were released, I looked forward to a miracle, but it did not happen.
"The former Auditor General of Ghana, Mr Daniel Domelevo, has been appointed by the Board of the Global Fund to serve on the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board. The Global Fund provides $4 Billion+ annually to countries (including Ghana) to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria"
The Works and Housing Minister, Francis Asenso Boakye, says the government will sell the failed Saglemi Affordable Housing Project to a private developer, who will complete and sell them. The government will then invest the funds in another affordable housing project.
You've seen only 1 page of Sir John's will and you are screaming.

AKUFO-ADDO: If you vote for Gyakye Quayson, he cannot serve you in prison.
ASSIN NORTH PEOPLE: If he goes to prison, there will be another by-election. And that means more goodies.
I understand Akufo-Addo’s difficulty in sacking Ken Ofori-Atta. It’s easy to dismiss a minister of state, but it’s not easy to sack a “VICE PRESIDENT”, who is also a family member.
In this economy, Akufo-Addo pays them 180 cedis a month with our taxes. 600 cedis is allocated to each of them per month, but the contract says 420 should go to Zoomlion so only 180 should be paid to the poor workers.

Mr President , for their selfish goals, chiefs, paid praise singers and sycophants will continue to sing insincere praises of you. But what you heard at the

is the truest voice of the people, a referendum on your regime. You have two years to salvage it.
The Asantehene has succinctly said what Akufo-Addo needs to be told. He said it boldly and clearly. He said the government's claim of fighting galamsey "is full of lies; they should give us a break."
"Teach them that a president who was nicknamed the 'Gentle Giant' is, today, confined to a wheelchair and his mobility would depend on how well duty bearers implemented the Disability Act of making buildings accessible to persons with disability."

Martin Kpebu's fight for justice did not begin today. Before this, he used his legal practice to push for significant legal reforms. In the past, the moment you were accused of and arrested for some crimes, you could not be granted bail. Martin Kpebu challenged and changed that.
A soldier who kneels and takes aim before shooting isn't shooting to disperse the human beings he's facing. He probably has a target in mind.

SAD FACT: In a corrupt contract through an intermediary called Zoomlion, the Government of Ghana pays these market and street sweepers $166 for the ENTIRE YEAR. They work at least SIX DAYS IN A WEEK. They earn $13.8 a month.
Retweet until these helpless Ghanaians get justice.
“All of you guys have never ever come near the Presidency before. You know what it means to be President? And you stand and say ‘incompetent Mahama administration’, 'Incompetent Mahama administration'. What do you know about competence?"
John Dramani Mahama, 2015
They borrowed in our name and dissipated it. When we complained they insulted us. Now they can’t pay and they want to forcefully confiscate our little individual savings to pay for what they borrowed and stole and stashed in foreign accounts. This is like a declaration of war.
These great leaders have taught us a lot with the power of their example. Togbui and Otumfuo, may this unity outlive you and spread among your followers. May those whose politics thrive on division never succeed.

So help me, God.
Don't fall for any propaganda. Putin is utterly humiliated. This is a man who does not tolerate peaceful protests. To pardon a coup plotter and the fighters who seized army facilities and marched towards Moscow is not an easy concession. Russia's fragility has been badly exposed.
The wisest advice Akufo-Addo ever got, after he was sworn into office, was from Otumfuo. The Asantehene narrated how far he and the president had come in life, reminded him about his journey to the presidency and told him that,
The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) says terminating the sale of SSNIT hotels is not enough. It says the Elizabeth Ohene-led board and the Kofi Osafo-Maafo-led management must step down.
Akufo-Addo has told the people of Assin North not to vote for Gyakye Quayson because he cannot work from prison. Is this not contempt of court? Why is the president so sure that Mr Quayson will end up in prison? How does he know the outcome of a case that is just starting?
AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

What started as an open-minded documentary to investigate what was being done to curtail revenue losses in one sector is turning out to be the biggest scandal to hit the Akufo-Addo presidency.
After sending truckloads of relief items to the dam spillage victims, Ibrahim Mahama sent his company to dredge and help the water flow out of the communities and repair some broken roads. However, VRA has awarded a shady contract to Zoomlion to fumigate the affected areas.
The General Manager of Angel FM, Kwadwo Dickson, confirms the suspension of Captain Smart and says the reason for his suspension is that he has "spoken against government officials such as President Akufo-Addo, Vice-President Dr. Bawumia, Allan Kyeremateng and the IGP."
Dear DSTV, if we cannot have your service anytime it drizzles or rains, then you have to deduct those days or hours from the billing days. If it rains for five days and I don’t get your service, then I shouldn’t pay for the five days since you don’t want to resolve this problem.
NPP MP Andy Appiah Kubi has revealed that the wealthy businessman went to parliament with MONEY to influence the NPP MPs asking for Ken Ofori-Atta's sacking.
I follow the EPL. I don’t know the name of the English FA President. I hardly even hear about the English FA. It’s always about the clubs, players and national teams. Here, it’s more about the football administrators than those who make football administrators relevant.
