I repeat: MLB does not need a salary cap we need a floor. The Mets and Dodgers aren't the problem, the Pirates and As are.
December of 2016 was the last time the #Pirates signed a free agent, to a multi-year deal (Ivan Nova). Let me repeat that again - December of 2016. How doesn’t MLB look into this? For a team to go that long, with a multi-year commitment, is complete lunacy.

@FoulTerritoryTV @Ken_Rosenthal Yeah, that's bogus. Sure, maybe they can't afford a billion dollars in one off-season. But the Pirates spent only $10mil this winter and the Marlins didn't even spend a million. It's not the Mets and Dodgers fault that these teams are uncompetitive.

@KFCBarstool As for your second question the QO and his stated desire to return to the Mets had a lot to do with it. My guess is if he opts out (assuming he produces this year) he'll get much better offers next year.

@_CesarFabiani_ @DannyFitz85 @michaelgbaron He slashed .289/.376/.547 after the ASG last year and plays gold glove defense at four spots. Maybe he isn't that guy anymore but giving up on him before this season starts would be insane barring an atrocious Spring from him and an equally incredible Spring from one of the kids.

Lindor-Soto makes so much sense but I can't shake the idea of Lindor-Vientos-Soto. Now that Alonso is back Vientos isn't needed as Soto's protection and he hit so well behind Lindor last year. Not to mention giving him Soto as protection would help avoid the sophomore slump.

When Josh Bell hit behind Soto he actually looked like a good hitter. When Judge hit behind Soto he had his best season with 223 OPS+. Pete Alonso is going to have a very good season is all I'm saying.
