Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa and Director General Dr Patrick Amoth warned that low contributions could disrupt healthcare services. SHIF was expected to raise Ksh133 billion annually but is struggling to meet expectations. Many private hospitals are already feeling the strain due to delayed payments. The Ministry of Health has urged all registered Kenyans to complete means testing and committing to paying their premiums to sustain the scheme.

Ruto-Raila handshake under threat as Ichung'wah educates Raila-allied MPs Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has this afternoon fiercely reprimanded MPs allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga for attempting to disrupt today’s sitting. The MPs caused chaos by making noise, throwing tantrums, and engaging in name-calling before storming out in large numbers. This came shortly after Speaker Moses Wetangula ruled that Kenya Kwanza is the Majority party in the National Assembly, a decision that went against the expectations of Azimio leaders. Ichung’wah took issue with Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Kathiani MP Robert Mbui, and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, who had hoped to secure the Majority status for Azimio. He accused them of disrespecting parliamentary proceedings and failing to accept the Speaker’s ruling.

Nairobi Governor ranked among the most poor-perfoming Governors in Kenya A survey conducted by Infotrak Research and Consulting firm has ranked Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja among the lower-performing county leaders. The Countrytrak Performance Index 2024 report released on Tuesday, and which assessed Governors' performance across Kenya, placed Sakaja in the bottom ten, coming at 37 out of 47. The Infotrak ranking comes as the latest in a series of reports that have dented Governor Sakaja’s public image in recent times. This after Controller of Budget (CoB) Margaret Nyakang'o’s report released in December 2024 revealed that the Sakaja-led Nairobi County government was among 10 devolved units that spent zero shillings on development during a four-month period from July to October.
