@celestialbe1ng Yes women worked, but they also stayed at home when their children were very young. My female grt grandmothers worked in coal mines (overground) and mills in England but they didn't go back to work until all their children were at school

I'm from the north of England, my family were coal miners. Though ex miners get a fuel allowance, most of us can't afford to heat our homes in winter.
