One trick that's been a hit for me: the big picture reveal! At the end of the story, I ask my kids, 'Wanna see what the character looks like?' And they’re all, 'Yes, yes! When I finally show them, it’s always, 'He’s so silly!' 'She’s weird!' 'Why does he look so grumpy?
