If maps don't also include the tribes of mexico or south america, i'm not interested. If language maps don't include us Apaches south of the border, not interested. Apaches & Navajo all speak different dialects of the Athabaskan language. We are relatives.

More than just working for the White Gaze. Jacqueline Keeler is not just a self-proclaimed " Indian Hunter " but a Trophy Indian that will throw every native under the bus just to get access and success. Her words don't help native people, they help anti-native people instead.
Their audience stopped being Indian Country the moment the message was rebuked and seen as the invasion of Sovereignty and invalidation of Kinship it is.
Now they scout for the right wing, deputize colonizers, proliferate racial slurs and rebrand Jim Crow methods and rhetoric.

I spend so much time talking about being Nednhi Apache but not enough about being part Guamares tribe. This is my Guamares Chichimeca grandma Trinidad. She raised 10 children by herself & had 25 Grandkids. She was a fiercely independent & strong woman from an equally fierce Mom

Years ago I was interviewed by Gregory Smithers for this book. I don’t promote it because us two spirits were told they would make donations of our choice. When asking for compensation for my time & story, Smithers shamed me. Native people need to write our own stories/history

Natives around the border of south of it began intermarrying just to survive the genocide. Tribes who didn't have that much in common outside of being Native. So when you see NDNs in the south that are more than 3 tribes, that is where it came from. larger groups of mixed tribes

Honestly think at this point that anyone who still followers Keeler and refuses to listen to the multiple Native voices who’ve warned you all about her is no friend of mine and I gave too much grace to people who frankly don’t deserve it.

Exactly. I live my life with Chronic PTSD. In high school I was given a forced exorcism by catholic students. Following year 9 students tried to stone me for being trans/two spirit. All of my trauma completely ties into colonialism. A stoning is a biblical execution.

Like in most books about Apache people - many of us hid in our half of Ancestral Lands that are in present day Chihuahua/surrounding areas. Many lied about who they were to survive. Also many of us scattered. We have cousins that fled to california & texas.
