My book ' The Queers Of the Underground ' is here! Available on barnes & noble website. This book is about queer/trans history in rave culture from an Indigenous Trans perspective
- Marcy Angeles
A Native person is not going to cut their own braids and commit suicide. What happened to Cole Brings Plenty is a hate crime & there is alleged evidence of a person being involved. Cut braids is more than just torture, that is a straight message to the rest of us Native People.
From the creators of ' Problems All Across Turtle Island ' and ' No One Is Safe As Long As She's Talking '
Ol Jacko starring in
Dances For White Academia
@halalflow
I am registered democrat & i will never vote for you. Voting for Jill Stein or Cornel West. Those are the two candidates i'm trying to choose between
Ol Jackie just after that Oscar now
Plot Twist: After cancelling every Native. Jacqueline goes after the final boss and accuses herself of being a Pretendian
If maps don't also include the tribes of mexico or south america, i'm not interested. If language maps don't include us Apaches south of the border, not interested. Apaches & Navajo all speak different dialects of the Athabaskan language. We are relatives.
Ironic that Keeler & Kim Tallbear are mixed white but hate on natives who have ties to Mexico. Blood quantum is awful but many people south of that border are full blood. I hate having to say that. What about the uncontacted tribes in South America? Just convenient criteria
#TransDayOfVisibility
is particularly important in the current climate of escalating political and physical violence against the trans community. 2023 saw the highest number of anti-trans bills on record with 600 bills introduced in 49 states. In 2024, we already have 538 bills
@_waleedshahid
@AdalahNY
The way she looks so bothered by that question. Also remembering that time she was mocking religious beliefs that were not Christian. Pretty smug
Freaking wow. So Keeler took advantage of colonized Apaches with ties to Mexico and told them they’re not native anymore? Freaking livid 😡😡😡😡 she deplatformed an indigenous hero
Jacqueline Keeler wishes she would have created half the legacy that Sacheen Littlefeather did. You'll be remembered as the only people wanting to listen to you is Kim Native Hunter and colonial media. Tell that to the Hollywood Reporter.
@Imani_Barbarin
@thelunacysystem
Exactly - at the end of the day both parties are capitalists. They won't be that upset so long as a capitalist is in office
Re-Indigenization must include compassion and patience for each other. As Indigenous People, we have been through so much. Let's not take that trauma out on each other.
P.s. I don’t hate white people- I don’t like people that maintain colonialism. There is a big difference: We have a lot of great allies on our side and diversity is beautiful.
Jacqueline Keeler sharing Hollywood Reporter articles to prove something lmfao. What anyone that namedrops you? Who you going to use as proof next to serve your little Native Scout agenda? Sun News? National Enquirer? Anyone willing to listen to you?
It is ableist to expect disabled people with mental health disabilities to show up and show no symptoms. Like I'm a trauma survivor and you expect me to have it all together? You expect me to hold my composure to take me seriously? What fucking part of trauma survivor dont u get
The biggest problem about " Pretendian Hunters " and especially inviting in Colonial Media to cancel other Natives: The Invitation to White People to police our Indigeneity. We are a fragmented people putting pieces back together: rez or barrio. This only adds to the struggle
Expecting people with non-visible mental health disabilities to work or work more than our capacity to when we can't is ableism and disability discrimination
In 2020, I was invited to be a part of the first ever Inigenous Trans Panel hosted by Dine Equality of Navajo Nation. It was an honor to show up not only as a border/barrio native but to discuss the trauma that leads to PTSD in Two Spirit ppl &non visible disability stigmas
More than just working for the White Gaze. Jacqueline Keeler is not just a self-proclaimed " Indian Hunter " but a Trophy Indian that will throw every native under the bus just to get access and success. Her words don't help native people, they help anti-native people instead.
Their audience stopped being Indian Country the moment the message was rebuked and seen as the invasion of Sovereignty and invalidation of Kinship it is.
Now they scout for the right wing, deputize colonizers, proliferate racial slurs and rebrand Jim Crow methods and rhetoric.
Dave Chapelle is just a perfect example that people of color can also perpetuate colonialism. Native ppl had multiple genders since the beginning of time, even some African tribes did. What about black trans lives? What about native trans lives? Gender binary is white supremacist
Get a good kick out of Northern Native chefs saying there are not Native restaurants on Turtle Island. What do you think Mexican restaurants are? Not all of the dishes are Native but most Mexican dishes are. Pozole, Tamales, tortillas, tacos, beans, squahs, elote,, enchiladas
@TheAgentNDN
@KirosAuld
I’m a disabled indigenous trans not receiving disability because anti trans discrimination. As much as I could use the assistance - lateral violence has made me feel small enough to feel like I can’t ask for help when I need it. Musi sales help me get by
@DeadDogLake
@KirosAuld
Being a barrio native and living off the rez does not make us exempt from the effects of colonialism. Trying to police our indigenous identity is very colonial and other natives trying to tell us we are not allowed to be native when we are is getting colonized by our own people
Indigenous people should be paid for our labor. Indigenous people should be paid for our stories. Indigenous people should be paid for our time. Indigenous people should be paid for our knowledge. You’re not entitled to us, our pain, our history etc.
I spend so much time talking about being Nednhi Apache but not enough about being part Guamares tribe. This is my Guamares Chichimeca grandma Trinidad. She raised 10 children by herself & had 25 Grandkids. She was a fiercely independent & strong woman from an equally fierce Mom
Years ago I was interviewed by Gregory Smithers for this book. I don’t promote it because us two spirits were told they would make donations of our choice. When asking for compensation for my time & story, Smithers shamed me. Native people need to write our own stories/history
@SassyMetisChick
exactly this! they're not an ally if they do this at all, periodt. Ol Jacko is basically inviting in non-natives to try to say who is native and who isnt. its a mess
Always find it fascinating how the " pretendian " conversations conveniently leave out paper genocide. Oh is paper genocide only applied to federally recognized natives? Is that how that works. Need we remind you that there are unconctacted tribes in the amazon with no paperwork
If the only tribes you acknowledge are within the confines of the colonial occupation you're under, you're colonized. Borders were meant to divide native people & quite possibly to instigate infighting.
And when you see light skin natives, many of us are a product of rape of indigenous bloodlines to water down native blood. Something big in Mexico, something that happens in war. Something northern natives discuss but light skin natives are proof. We all come in different shades
Did you ever notice how the Indigenous Trans voice has been kept out of National Trans Conversations? Most tribes had multiple genders before colonization. The Gender Binary is inherently White Supremacist
So is becoming a Native Academic just an attempt to gain your white status card? The way some of them pat each other on the back and are enabling or maintaining this native cannibalism Pretendian hunter thing is just out of hand. Counter productive & just plain wrong
U know what is ridiculous? The way Natives allow all of us to be divided & conquered. White people always stick together. The liberals minimizing the racist rants of their conservative uncle, ohhh he's just old fashioned. Native people need 2 learn to stick together like yt ppl
Everyone knows that Native People have a cultural connection to our hair. That's why they paid for our scalps. That's why residential school children had their hair cut. Why teachers cut off native braids at schools & what happened to Cole Brings Plenty. Its about control
As a disabled indigenous trans adult. I am not receiving disability that I qualified for mind you because of the constant verbal harassment, disability/trans discrimination from SSA. Transphobia is systemic. I shouldn't be hustling to make ends meet the way i do as disabled
I you're a native musician: this is your post. Please share links to your work. Your favorite song you've written. a cover you've done. an album etc. Dj sets welcome
Think the big misunderstanding from Northern Natives is most of us Border/Southern Natives are not after enrollment. Although, we deserve that. In Mexico, indigenous identity was stolen from us or our Ancestors hid to survive. We have every right to reclaim who we are
Bill Burr trashing trans people every chance he gets then pretending to love Native People. Consistency goes a long way. Most tribes held two spirits sacred & had multiple genders since beginning of time. Trans issues are Indigenous issues.
Often times in white dominated chat spaces, the idea of keeping the peace is Indigenous Silence. They can talk politics but if you bring up colonialism, they are bothered. Asking for Indigenous Silence is not Peace, it is Oppression. Even in the small pockets of society
Watched Frybread Face & Me - reminded me of my family & the importance of reconnection. This is my Great Grandma passing down a blessing to my Aunt Joso and a photo of her home with 6 ft ceilings, dirt floors and wooden pallet fences. From The Barrio to the Rez we r the same ppl
As embarassing as it has been to ask for help. My friends/colleagues at Exude in Berlin have created a gofundme to help me recover financially. In 2021 started a dangerous situation with a stalker that the sheriffs department didnt take seriously
Ancestral Lands don't end where Colonial Borders do. Your people don't only exist within the confines of the Colonial Occupation you live under. North, South & Central America - us natives are all related
Natives around the border of south of it began intermarrying just to survive the genocide. Tribes who didn't have that much in common outside of being Native. So when you see NDNs in the south that are more than 3 tribes, that is where it came from. larger groups of mixed tribes
Nothing is more disgusting than all these National LGBTQ orgs pretending to care about Two Spirits. Do you realize how often they suppress our voices? Overlook our intersectionalized struggles. Most of the time, it's usually the White LGBTQ who they're helping.
speak! jacqueline keeler is a problem for so many tribes, not just one. uniting northern and southern tribes in finding her problematic is probably the only good thing she's ever done
Honestly think at this point that anyone who still followers Keeler and refuses to listen to the multiple Native voices who’ve warned you all about her is no friend of mine and I gave too much grace to people who frankly don’t deserve it.
@KirosAuld
Us Apaches and many other tribes of the south whose ancestral lands were cut in half and resulting in displaced disconnected people. The term " indio " in mexican is an insult that means uncivilized. Natives and mixed natives were taught to be aspiring Hispanics.
There are privileges that non- Rez natives have and there are privileges that Rez natives have. We need to take the time to have those productive conversations. Gatekeeping doesn’t change when a native person dies on or off Rez, that life is treated like they don’t matter
the ADA (Americans With Disability Act) is Ancient text that needs to be updated. Also, for those of us living with Non-Visible Disabilities including Mental Health Disabilities - our voices need to be including in these conversations & we need to lose the stigma
Imagine if White Genocide survivors were expected to have their existence validated the way it is done to Native People. They are celebrated for the lengths they went through to survive. Native genocide survivors are discredited for surviving by any means necessary
@KirosAuld
Disgusting that Keeler would equate her reputation with someone's needs to survive. She weasled her way into collaboration with the colonizer. Plus why tf is Hollywood Reporter even reporting on native issues? What a joke
@ecomarxi
@Caitlyn_Jenner
Nobody wants Caitlyn to be quiet more than the trans community. Majority of us live within the margins of poverty. Work force doesn't eagerly want to hire trans people. I have been in an abusive relationship with Social Security since 2009 receiving no disability cuz im trans
@KirosAuld
It is very common for brown folk with roots in mexico to deny indigeneity. The movie/book Bless Me Ultima kinda touches the issue by showing the Curanderismo/Traditional Native Medicine & colonization that took place
No other org can say it’s difficult to communicate with Native People. You can start with two simple ways. 1) don’t talk about us like we are extinct 2) don’t diminish the plight of indigenous people just because you don’t understand the experience.
One of the hardest things about being Trans is the intimidation we experience for speaking up. You know giving testimony helps but no one is there to protect you. Some trans try to hide & some trans are risking so much just to talk
Years ago I had a stalker. It was a very dangerous situation & the sheriffs department didn’t take my situation seriously. The commissioner originally denied my application for a restraining order.
@DeadDogLake
@KirosAuld
Exactly. I live my life with Chronic PTSD. In high school I was given a forced exorcism by catholic students. Following year 9 students tried to stone me for being trans/two spirit. All of my trauma completely ties into colonialism. A stoning is a biblical execution.
Caitlyn Jenner talks about trans people wanting special treatment. First of all, no one wants Caitlyn to be quiet more than trans people. 2nd) didn’t you allegedly cause a fatal car accident for texting while driving? Not serving time for that is special treatment
Sovereign Nations staying Sovereign is important. No border/southern native wants 2 take that from u. Ur experience is different from ours & ours is different from yours. At the end of the day, we want the same thing and that is to survive. That is 2 be who we have always been.
When we leave our Earth Walk - Creator isn't going to ask us which degree we have. What we named our yacht. How much is in our account. Most likely what matters is how we treated others and what we did for our own People.
Being a Trans woman feels like being a sex object & a punching bag all at once. People irrationally take out their problems that have nothing to do with us on us. When they don't depict us as the enemy, they secretly fetishize us. Don't just me, see my Humanity
Part of Decolonization must include unlearning recognizing Indigenous People if they're not living in the same colonial occupation as you. There is no Turtle Island without the tribes of Mexico. No Eagle, Quetzal & Condor without South or Central America
#OscarsSoWhite
includes propping up Lily while ignoring Yalitza.
My mood all day has been.....
Especially seeing my own fellow Brown Natives repost Lily pro🏳️ supremacy garbage. This is what's wrong with the Native communities 🙄
Like in most books about Apache people - many of us hid in our half of Ancestral Lands that are in present day Chihuahua/surrounding areas. Many lied about who they were to survive. Also many of us scattered. We have cousins that fled to california & texas.
@THR
Lots of brown people in Mexico are taught to be aspiring Hispanics. Mexico is diverse and there are natives there including half of the Apache people. Keeler just wants to be invited to go golfing with White Academics
