The attack in Woollahra overnight is a disgusting act of antisemitism that I strongly condemn. I stand with our Jewish community here in eastern Sydney and across our nation.

There is no place for these hateful and cowardly actions. All Australians have the right to feel safe and supported at home.

The attack on a Melbourne synagogue is an outrage & I strongly condemn such actions. There is no place for antisemitism anywhere,ever. I hope the perpetrators are quickly arrested & charged. I offer sympathy & support for Australia’s Jewish community.

As the sun pierces the horizon a new day dawns. Today we gather in solemnity to thank and pay our respect to the generations of Australians who have served our nation and for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

As daylight breaks through the deep Malaysian vegetation, we can see the memorial commemorating the more than 2,400 Australian and British troops killed at Sandakan and on the death marches to Ranau. Each Australian commemorated here served our nation during our darkest hour.

It’s a reminder that the freedom and liberty we enjoy every day is a debt we owe to the courage, the suffering and the sacrifice, of those who have worn the Australian Defence Force uniform. Lest we forget.

Australian soldiers and the local Malayan population gave their lives here at Surrender Point in defence of freedom and liberty, values we hold dear today. An honour to visit the commemoration site to pay my respects.

An honour to visit the Labuan War Cemetery here in Malaysia. Many of the Australian soldiers who rest here were held as POWs during WW2. Their stories are of courage and resilience in the face of hardship and atrocity. And it’s a story that will never be forgotten.

I’ve just landed in Malaysia and heard the tragic news involving a crash of two Malaysian Armed Forces helicopters, in Lumut.

I offer my condolences to the family and friends of those killed and Australia stands by the Malaysian Armed Forces at this time. These incidents are a reminder of the significance of the service undertaken by armed forces personnel.

When you see these blue shirts, you know help is on the way. Disaster Relief Australia uses the skill set of its veteran volunteers to help communities affected by natural disasters. And with the release of today’s wellbeing report we know there’s real benefits for veterans.

An honour to participate in our communities Anzac Day services today. On Anzac Day we pay our respects to those who have given their life defending our country and our ideals. Lest we forget.

The deeds of the Australian troops in Papua New Guinea are what the Anzac legend is made of. Here at the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway, we remember the men who fought and died, the locals who supported them and the families who mourn them. Lest we forget.

We’re expanding mental health support for veterans across the country. Open Arms provides veterans focused mental health support through the lived experience of peers like Emma. It’s free for veterans and their families, it’s effective and they’re around the nation.

Our community and nation are grieving as one at this devasting, senseless tragedy. To the victims and their loved ones, we stand with you in unity, in grief and in compassion.

The bravery shown by first responders and members of the public in the face of danger was remarkable and truly admirable. Our community is hurting, but we’ll stand together for the months to come.
