Mounties drop a tight one to the Mustangs of Putnam Science Academy, 50-42. Both teams played well defensively, but the PSA stars made a few more plays. Nothing was easy offensively in large part to the size and strength of our opponent, but the girls made some big buckets. Ava Ayotte ‘28 led MSC with 13 pts (3-3pt, 5 reb, 2 stl). Jaizzy Santiago ‘26 had some tough baskets and finished with 8 pts (4 reb, 3 stl, 3 ast). Lusi Hagopain ‘25 played great defensively and added 9 pts. Dora Serednytska ‘27 was stout in battling the PSA size and grabbed 8 rebs with 5 pts, 2 asst. Addie Johnson ‘26 (5 pt, 2 reb, 2 asst) also played well defensively and pushed the pace. Mounties (8-3) got an important win vs a talented, well-coached Proctor squad at home yesterday, 56-39. Once again, defense was the way with Senior Captain Lusi Hagopian ‘25 and Jaizzy Santiago with 8 steals each from a team-season-high 19 steals. Hagopian continues a great senior season with another game making plays all over the court (14 pts, 7 reb, 8 stls, 3 asst). Dariia Serednytska ‘27 wiped the glass all afternoon with a game-high 15 rebs (12 pts, 2 asst). Jaizzy Santiago ‘26 set the tone for the game with her on-ball defense (10 pts, 8 stls). Ava Ayotte ‘27 (8 pt, 3 rebs), Addie Johnson ‘26 (7 pts, 2 stls), and Anna Dziun (5pts, 3 assts) all played well to help the Mounties bring the win streak to 6. @MSCAthletics

Mounties finally back in action after a 19-day break with a win over Concord Academy. MSC played great defense and forced tough shots all night. Offensively, the Mounties shared the ball beautifully, recording a season-high 21 assists. Dora Serednytska ‘27 was absolutely dominant on the boards, with 12 rebs to go along with 4 pts, 5 assists, 3 steals in limited action in the 2nd half. Senior Capt Lusi Hagopian ‘25 (10 pts, 6 rebs, 2 asst) brought the energy, hustling up and down the floor and finishing well. Addison Johnson ‘26 (7 pts, 7 reb, 3 asst) was masterful in pushing the Mount break. Anna Dziun ‘26 (7 pt, 3 reb, 2 stl, 5 asst) put up another solid all-around game, while Ava Ayotte ‘28 (7 pts, 2 reb, 1 stl, 1 asst) continued her outstanding freshman season. Congratulations to Dariia Serednytska ('27) for being named MVP & Jaizzy Santiago ('26) for being voted to the All-Tournament Team of the 2024 Williston-Northampton Ray Brown Tournament! Dariia was the anchor for the Mounties on both ends of the floor. Offensively, her size and skill commanded constant attention, and her unselfish play created opportunities for her teammates. On defense, Dariia was a formidable wall behind the Mountie defense. Jaizzy earned All-Tournment honors with hard-nosed, suffocating defense that created a lot of turnovers. The Mounties head into the Christmas break with a Cup! The Mounties finished 3-0 vs solid competition to win 1st place in the 2024 Williston Northampton Ray Brown Torunament. In the first game vs Williston Northampton, MSC played beautiful, unselfish basketball, finishing with four players in double figures (Addie Johnson ‘26 - 15, Dariia Serednytska ‘27 - 13, Ava Ayotte ‘28 - 11, Jaizzy Santiago ‘26 - 11). In game 2 vs St Marks, MSC defense was the key, allowing just 28 points (Johnson - 12, Ayotte - 12). In the champsionship game vs Brewster Academy, MSC had another balanced attack, with three players scoring in double-figures (Ayotte - 14, Serednytska - 12, Lusi Hagopian ‘25 - 12) . Senior Captain Lusi Hagopian was a standout all weekend with intense defense, leadership, and game-changing plays all over the floor--but that’s just what Lusi does!
