The Last Soldier Killed in the War The resting place of Private George Price, 28th Canadian Infantry Battalion. Killed by a German sniper northeast of Mons just two minutes before the Armistice on 11 November 1918, he was the last Canadian to be killed in battle during the war.

Living in trenches for about two weeks at a time left soldiers with few options for bathing. Here, several Canadian soldiers use a water-filled shell hole to shave and to wash their faces and feet. Avoiding "trench foot," or rotting feet, was paramount.

On Dec 29, 1944 RCAF Flight Lt. Dick Audet destroys 5 German planes in 10 minutes in France. By the end of January 1945 he had claimed a further five victories and shared a sixth. He was killed in action on 3 March 1945 near Coesfeld, Germany.
