I've been absent since 20th September. My beloved husband Paul, whom I met in February 1972, passed away suddenly. I fell in love with his voice before I saw him, left a fiancé, got thrown out of home, married Paul in 1976. He never let me down, he was my rock. I was so lucky.
No Remainer is feeling vindicated. Every Remainer is saddened, frightened, shocked and despondent. Each Remainer feels anger and disgust. This island nation is truly on its own.
A Sudanese family are moving into our village shortly and as they only speak English, I've been asked to help out and give them French lessons. They've been living in a camp in Egypt for a number of years. They've got absolutely nothing. I'm looking forward to helping them out.
I'm sorry if I lose followers by this statement. I truly believe that Northern Ireland would fare better if it was reunited with Eire and the British government accepted a climb down.
I am thoroughly fed-up of people calling Johnson by his first name and saying "it's a shame for him", or "I feel for him" like he's lost a penalty shot at a local club game. He's responsible for DEATHS, MISMANAGEMENT, and he's got to go NOW.
How on earth do the Tories manage to have 44% in the latest poll against 33% for Labour? This is insane. How can there be so many people who cannot see their lies, deception and exceptionalism?
Apparently, Boris Johnson’s huge & public row with Carrie Symonds that the neighbours taped was all about his new affair with a 28 yr old violinist- most journalists know this but are not covering the story.
Apparently, reported in PrivateEyeNews but ignored by the main media.
Chancellor Merkel is a woman whom I admire and respect. She has been a guiding light to all Europe throughout her long tenure. She will be sorely missed.
45 years ago I walked down the aisle without my father's hand on my arm. Both parents disapproved. Every time I hit a bump I was determined to prove them wrong. They did me a favour. I have had a loving, caring partner and a wonderful adventure of a life. I am truly blessed.
I'm at a loss to understand how many so-called friends of mine voted to Leave. Apart from ignorance, it was a direct insult to me, living in Europe since 1985.
How mask wearing works here in France. Yesterday,I walked to the post office. Only 1 person allowed in at a time. I had forgotten my mask. I made a makeshift one with my cardigan. Was totally covered. Both employees said no. Not a mask. Had to go back home. Totally get it.
@HeathertheHeron
@artcrimeprof
Oh Heather, what a twit that teacher was. I too am 68 and started painting last year. I love it. I have actually sold one too! To a man in Ohio. Didn't make a lot as I underestimated the postage but it gave me a helluva fillip! Go for it!
Started off as an ordinary evening then these Scouts rang the bell asking for food, camping in the town and on an exercise to meet people. They stayed for dinner!
Does anyone else have private nicknames for their neighbours?
Here are ours
Fred & Rose : spend inordinate time sawing in garage
Frankenstein : wears white lab coat for gardening
Hinge & Bracket : 2 grumpy old dears
Woof : has a very loud voice
I'm going for a colonoscopy/endoscopy in the morning. Am quaffing back the 2nd lot of this salty liquid. My stomach has never made these kind of noises! I'll spare the other details.
The anger on here is palpable. I am wondering, if we feel like that, as responsible people, what will happen once the shortages and blockages bite? Civil unrest is likely.
Since 13/03/2020 neither I nor OH have had a cold, sore throat, cough, earache. Every year, it was one after another + the consequent tiredness associated with minor ailments. It has GOT to be mask wearing that has kept us free for 13 months. I'm not stopping wearing mine.
OK, hypothetical here: I'm a lorry driver in the EU. I hear about a 3 month contract in the UK. Where do I live, what about a doctor, my family in the EU? And I finish on 24th Dec, euh, no ta, I'll look in the EU if you don't mind.
I went over to see my son on Saturday to take some home-baked cake and we sat outside. It was heaven to see him and his wife. He rang last night to say he's tested positive for Covid so I have to get tested. 😢
Twitter has become part of my life now. I love to interact with people but the pandemic has made me anxious. I feel safe on here. Like having friends round for tea!
Please stop saying that 0 points in Eurovision was sour grapes. It wasn't. The UK have had 0 points before. I don't hear Germany beefing about their 3 points or Switzerland blaming their loss on thf poor public vote. It was an awful song and ridiculous choreography. Get over it.
#SudaneseFamilyintheGers
I got a call from school yesterday, 5yr old ill. Went to get her, freezing cold but raging temperature, 1/2 hour later dad called, she was worse, I called the emergency service, over lunchtime doctor's closed. In hospital now, waiting for info.
I'm applying for French nationality and have been trying to get a rendezvous at the Préfecture in Toulouse since last December. Tonight I got one! 24th November! Yippee!

people : either follow back or remove the
#FBPE
. I've just scanned through my followings and in 5 minutes have found 10
#FBPE
who have not followed back. Misusing the hashtag isn't fair to those who take it very seriously. It's not about numbers. It's about the hashtag.
I had an email today about a petition I signed. It said Parliament can no longer debate petitions of more than 100000 signatures because of social distancing rules. Surely they could debate via Zoom?
@madgie1941
In the 80s, I was so revolted by Thatcher, I sold up and moved to France with a 3 year old and a husband who had no French. Brexit removed that FOM. Now there is a government which makes Thatcher seem generous and caring.
Thank you to the person who put this photo on Twitter and who has now disappeared into the ether. I hope that whoever you are that you won't mind my putting it in my profile?
I've just spent a few days walking, no wifi, no internet, just chat. French and Spanish walkers. I asked, "What do you think of the UK governmlent's handling of Brexit/ Covid?" Roughly same answers ranging from, "Pitiful", "Lack of leadership", "They're blaming the EU."
Couple I know had the vaccination about 2 weeks ago. Both have tested positive for Covid and are isolating now. Both quite sick. I'm very surprised. They were too.
I've shielded for 11 months, since 13.03.20. I've seen my son 3 times for a couple of hours each time. Apart from internet shopping every 14 days + picking up the order, I've been nowhere, like most of us. I'm just wondering not when but how I will get back to "normality"?
The final hurdle in our French citizenship quest. We are going to get our fingerprints done to add to the dossier for a French ID card and passport. We've been immigrants for 35 years. Now proud that the country we love and we adopted has finally adopted us. A beautiful feeling.
Who in their right mind would follow a bitcoin sales person? And all these naval commanders who tell me I'm beautiful. I'm not. I never was. I'm also 68 and don't need Tinder on Twitter. Sorry for rant.
I worked in a comprehensive school in Yorkshire at that time. Children queued for that food. One child, at the primary school my husband worked at, came in his father's boots. It was dire. Those who remember it are afraid today. Those who don't, hear this!

I am asking those who love the outdoors to post a picture. A picture that YOU took. No description. The goal is to regain peace and harmony without the negativity. Please copy the text, put a picture on your page and let’s look at these.
Here is mine 💛🧡
Starmer played a blinder today. To those who think he's been slow : there's the fable of the tortoise and the hare. Which won the race in the end? Slow but sure. The opposition leader nailed
#LiarJohnson
and his balls to the mast today.
@BettsHelen
Following you now Helen. This post about your mum is outrageous. Please join a support group in your area. If you can't find one, then I will help. Also write to the Guardian, James O'Brien, your MP. If you don't feel up to this, I will do it for you.
I heard today about a young couple in their 30s in London who have had the vaccine already. No health issues either of them. According to the girl's mother, it was a case of "who they knew." I find that totally scandalous.
EU Britizens - New victory! As a result of the ruling in Perpignan yesterday, 14 Dec, we get a second preliminary question in Luxembourg before the ECJ. Thanks to two courageous British women, we can avoid the abolition of European citizenship for millions of British citizens.
Today, I'm going for a routine mammogram. Are there any others out there who could tell me why it has to be such a barbaric procedure? Two unrelenting cold plates of steel crushing one's breasts together like pieces of dough.
My Covid test has come back negative. I have to have another one next Friday and isolate till then. On the other hand, my daughter-in-law has started with symptoms and is being tested this afternoon. Thank you to one and all for your support, encouragement and kind responses.
Alarm set for 6am, shutters closed at 10am till 9pm. Temperature tomorrow in SW France forecast to rise to 39°.Will be 25°at 10am. Will do siesta 2 till 4pm. It's impossible to go out. Washing fades if you hang it out. Been for a walk from 9pm till 10.30pm.
The Scouts came back!! Only 5 not 7 and only 1 original but it's a pleasure to have them again. They'd walked 30k today so they've had showers and now dinner.
18 years ago I was in Oklahoma. Chirac had vetoed the Iraq war. There were flags in every garden. At church, the priest asked visitors where they were from. When I said France, a murmur of disapproval rippled through the church. Flags are a sign of jingoism, of false unity.
I was so moved by President Biden's speech that I decided to compare it with Tr**p's in 2017. It was truly AWFUL, full of anger and hatred then 4 years of hate-filled rhetoric. Gone insanity.
