Good day Ma-am honourable chairman, @abikedabiri please if you can be of any help to this family and advise how they can go forward. They have made several effort to eeach your office but to no avail. Please help. @nidcom_gov Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Second floor, Annex 3, Phase 1, Federal Secretariat, CBD, Abuja FCT. Subject: An emergency request for interference in the cruel custody and abuse of my brother in Hong Kong Dear Ma am, Allow me to quickly draw your attention to a serious injustice and terrible treatment that my brother is experiencing in Hong Kong. He was apprehended without any obvious grounds and even as we hoped for a fair hearing, he has continued to languish in jail unlawfully under circumstances that are contrary to his human rights. The arrest of my brother was abrupt and unforeseen, until today we do not know why he is held in detention. We have attempted several times to find out what charges are brought against him but the Hong Kong authorities have always given us elusive answers. His arrest has been devastating for our family especially considering that we believe strongly on my brother’s innocence. To make it worse, this situation has been worsened by how my brother and other Nigerians with similar predicament are treated while still incarcerated. They are being compelled to work from early morning into late hours at factories with no forms of payment rendering them modern day slaves. This amounts not only to illegal exploitation but also being imprisoned illegally under fake pretenses. Adding to our agony, my brother has been diagnosed with cancer recently. He is getting worse by the day, and the prison conditions where he is being held only add to his misery. However, even as his condition worsens, there have been no efforts put in place to avail him with medical attention that he so much needs or even show a little empathy. With this in mind, we urge for adherence and implementation of the Governments of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Federal Republic of Nigeria bilateral agreement on transfer of sentenced persons (TSP). This reflects a common belief shared by Hong Kong and Nigeria that it would be better for convicted individuals to be allowed to return back home countries where they do not face any language or cultural barriers and where their friends as well as relatives can pay them regular visits. Honourable Chairman Ma, we are appealing to you not just as concerned family members, but as Nigerian citizens who believe in the principles of justice and human dignity. We urgently need your help to bring my brother back home before it is too late. His life is at stake, and we cannot bear to lose him to an unjust system that seems determined to strip him of his humanity. Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter. We remain hopeful that with your intervention, justice will prevail and my brother will be given the chance to receive proper medical care and a fair trial in Nigeria. Yours faithfully, Agbanyim Ekene 08123627973 (Brother) Please kindly check below for my brother’s details: Name: Agbanyim Emeka Prince Date of Birth: 04-08-1985 Date of Arrest: 10-08-2019 Place of Arrest: Hong-Kong Prison name: Stanly Prison, Hong Kong. Prison number: 423981 International Passport number:

@NoNonsensezone The fact is that I have learnt to ignore these charlatans that go online to stir tribal hate. If you see these people in person and you will only have to be ashamed engaging them in the first place. They are hungry and disgusting bigot.

@calebakujobi @Hashafcee1 That will mean loosing the raw material that he wish to add value to, and that is where the profits comes from.

This is a fantastic idea, but it is unfortunate that Nigeria does not prioritise uplifting people with such ideas. You have done the major work, and all you need now is support. However, I would advise you to start with one section for now, even though I understand that the extent of your production is driven by utilising every raw material and minimising waste. Please, never give up.

Africans have been eating insects with healthy protein for centuries. In Nigeria and across Africa, various insects and worms are eaten as a source of protein, nutrients, and as part of cultural practices. Here are some commonly consumed types: Insects Grasshoppers and Locusts Locally called 'chinge' in northern Nigeria, these are roasted, fried, or sun-dried and are highly nutritious. Termites Known as 'chikandasa' in some Nigerian communities, termites are eaten roasted or fried, especially after rains when they swarm. Crickets Consumed in different parts of Africa; they are either fried or dried and used as snacks. Palm Weevil Larvae (Rhynchophorus phoenicis) Popularly called 'edible maggots' or 'akokuno' in Ghana and some Nigerian regions, these are a delicacy when roasted or fried. Bees and Wasps Honeybees are sometimes eaten along with their larvae, and wasp larvae are cooked in certain regions. Worms and Larvae Mopane Worms (Gonimbrasia belina) A staple in southern African countries like Zimbabwe and South Africa, but also eaten in parts of West Africa. These are dried or fried. Silk Worms Often boiled or fried, these worms are eaten in Nigeria and other African countries for their protein content. Earthworms Eaten in certain African regions after being properly cleaned and cooked, though less common. Other Edible Insects Caterpillars These are consumed in Nigeria, especially in forested areas, where they are harvested and fried or dried. Ants Leafcutter ants or winged ants are often eaten fried or roasted as a crunchy snack. These insects and worms are not only traditional delicacies but also serve as sustainable and affordable protein sources in many African communities.

The recent killing of an EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) official is a tragic and deeply disturbing event that underscores the growing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in Nigeria. This act of violence is not only an attack on the individual but also a strike against the fight against corruption, which remains one of the most pressing issues hindering Nigeria’s progress. It is imperative that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are swiftly brought to justice to send a strong message that such actions will not be tolerated in a nation striving for transparency and accountability. The EFCC has undoubtedly made commendable strides in combating financial crimes, recovering stolen public funds, and bringing corrupt individuals to book. Their efforts have played a significant role in restoring some level of public confidence in the fight against corruption. However, there is an urgent need for the Commission to review and improve its operational strategies to ensure professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights. One area of concern is the reported practice of indiscriminate night arrests and harassment of residents. Such actions, if true, tarnish the image of the EFCC and erode the goodwill they have built over the years. While it is important to apprehend suspects and bring them to justice, these operations must be conducted with the utmost professionalism and adherence to the rule of law. Arbitrary arrests and the use of excessive force undermine the principles of justice and can lead to public resentment, which may compromise the Commission's effectiveness. To address these concerns, the EFCC should prioritise training for its personnel, focusing on human rights, community engagement, and ethical standards. Building trust between the EFCC and the public is crucial for long-term success in the fight against corruption. The Commission must demonstrate that its actions are motivated by a genuine commitment to justice, not by intimidation or abuse of power. Moreover, there is a need for a systemic overhaul of Nigeria’s security and judicial sectors to ensure adequate protection for law enforcement officers and the communities they serve. Collaborative efforts with other security agencies and civil society organisations will further strengthen the EFCC’s mandate. In conclusion, while the EFCC deserves recognition for its efforts in tackling corruption, it must commit to better conduct and professionalism. Nigeria’s fight against corruption must not come at the cost of the rights and safety of its citizens. Instead, it should embody the values of justice, fairness, and respect for all. @officialEFCC
