This guy in the Dirigo section is very confident he could do a better job than the refs on the floor.
It's a pity we keep our best officials in the bleachers. It seems so inefficient.
Just as a thought exercise...if Cooper went to Maine and Maine played an insane non-conference schedule and they finally got to March Madness, is that a better branding/draft status move than going to Duke or wherever?
My beliefs:
All Games should be streamed
All scores should be immediately reported
Accurate stats should always be kept
Our athletes should be celebrated
A shot clock would be great
Parents should shut the hell up
Kids should dunk
Refs should be better
Is that so hard?
Goldball Ice Fishing. Full disclosure. I did not fish. I just road some contraption out to middle of lake for photo op. I thought you did this from shore. A bit windy in middle. Not much of an outdoorsy type in Winter.
Nick Mayo has gotten closer to the NBA than 99.9999% of kids from Maine.
He could still make it.
Can we stop pretending he might have gotten drafted? Celebrate his achievement. Don’t tarnish it with false expectations.
I’m talking to you, media folks.

If the MPA made a shot clock optional for the regular season but mandatory for the playoffs, 90% of schools would have one in place by Opening Night.
This is not hard.
I’m no lawyer, but if you open your restaurant in defiance of an order by the Governor and one of your patrons gets sick, won’t you be sued for everything you’ve got?
The local small businesses in your community are about to get hit REALLY hard.
They have no paid leave.
No one is going to bail them out.
If they have to self-quarantine, they risk losing everything.
Shop Local while you can.
If we’re going to mention his playing accomplishments here, we should point out he was held back twice.
His Mr. Basketball year he should have been a sophomore in college
That Blue Wave guy was nearly 20 when he won Mr. Basketball.
He was older than Jayson Tatum was when he played his first NBA game.
Must have been a real struggle for him.

Thanks to everyone who sent their prayers/wishes/etc for my wife. Surgery went well today and if everything goes ok overnight, she'll be home tomorrow and back to her normal schedule of trying to ignore the Marcus Smart clips I keep showing her.
Indiana's largest class has 100 schools in it, ranging from 1,030 students to 5,327.
Their smallest class has 100 schools in it, ranging from 40 students to 283.
They have 4 classes for 403 schools.
Meanwhile, we have people trying to cling to an 8 team region.
Thanks to everyone who made Tourney Week so much fun. I saw ~38 games in 3 sites, finally met a bunch of people in real life (even MPA people!), and saw a bunch of great games.
Every year games get postponed in December that could have been played and then late January shows up and--OMG IT'S SNOWING EVERY DAY HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET ALL THESE GAMES IN????
Every year. Like clockwork.
It was a fun season. Thanks to everyone who said nice things to me during the tournament and especially to everyone who subscribed to the site and made it possible.
We’re on to spring sports.
Another Tourney Week in the books.

Partnering with the MPA(!!!)
It’s a long way from the days of sitting in the stands.
Thanks to everyone who came up and said nice things. It means a lot.

's feed today that the MPA is putting a lot of thought into making fall sports possible, despite what you might have heard from some moronic groups of parents and a certain parody account.
I'm not a cheerleader for the MPA, but they're faced with probably the biggest decision of their lives and from everything I've heard, they're taking it very, very seriously.
If it takes a little longer, it takes a little longer.
The last time Udonis Haslem played more than 130 minutes in a season, Obama was President.
Robert Williams III played 135 minutes in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Udonis Haslem says he hasn't recovered from loss to Celtics and plans to take his time and decide "what's next and where it goes" about coming back next season.
The Belfast basketball team presented Mt. View with a $600 scholarship in honor of a student who passed away earlier this year.
Now if you'll excuse me, I think I have some dust in my eye.

I'm really confused. I was told Maine doesn't produce any D1 basketball talent, but there's all these posts in my feed of Mainers making All-Conference teams at D1 schools.
