Did your parents ever tell you how tough it was going to school? County road bridge over Grand River 1.2 miles south of Vertmontville. School bus on narrow inadequate bridge. Pupils discharged on one side and walk across bridge after bus crosses to reload bus on the other side.

Work on the I-94 Project is progressing. This work is part of MDOT's ongoing $120 million investment to rebuild and widen I-94 near the Airport Road interchange to just west of the east US-127/I-94 interchange in Blackman and Leoni Township.

Heads up Charlotte, MDOT will begin a four-year project on I-69 in Calhoun and Eaton counties, today. This includes 22 miles of I-69 and six interchanges, bridge repairs, and making drainage and safety improvements in Marshall, Calhoun County, to Eaton County.

MDOT is installing a safety system at the eastbound I-94 exit ramp to Sargent Road east of Jackson designed to help prevent motorists from driving the wrong way on freeways. Cameras in the system detect when a car is driving toward it warning drivers with high intensity lights.

Heads up Lansing, the I-496 project between Lansing Rd. and I-96 is underway. Work includes reconstructing the freeway and ramps, and preventive maintenance on all bridges. EB I-496 will close first, and detours will send drivers to Lansing Rd. Alternate routes are advised.

Heads up Grand Ledge, on Monday MDOT will begin resurfacing and installing pavement markings and ADA-compliant sidewalks at the M-100/M-43 intersection. Drivers should expect lane closures on M-100 and M-43. Alternate routes are advised.

Issues like this will be fixed with the upcoming I-96 resurfacing project between M-52 to M-59. The project begins tomorrow with nightly (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) single-lane closures starting with the WB side.

I-94 improvements are moving forward in Jackson from M-60 to Sargent Road. Take a look at the project efforts including freeway improvements, the I-94/Cooper Street interchange, new roundabouts on each side of the new bridge and improving interchange ramps over the Grand River.

Heads up Lansing, The WB, and final, portion of the I-496 Pave the Way project will reopen to traffic on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 4 pm. This was the first of 122 projects throughout the state made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan initiative.

On Monday night MDOT resumed pavement repairs on M-99 (MLK Jr. Blvd) between Edgewood Blvd and Victor Ave. One lane is open in each direction. This nighttime construction requires closing the center three lanes; both outside lanes are open.

We poured concrete all day Saturday and had to wait for about 16 hours after the last patch was poured to ensure the concrete got to the minimum strength before allowing vehicles on it.
The contractor did not plan any work during this cure time.
