Dan is serving his 4th term as Albany County Executive; fighting for those in need & creating better opportunities for the middle class, poor & disadvantaged.
Today we renamed S. Pearl St. "
@jonasbrothers
Way" in anticipation of their upcoming show
@TUCenter
on Aug. 19. This stop of their tour is the 1st time they've been in Albany since 2005, which just shows that we're putting our city back on the map w/ great acts like this.
Due to the rising
#COVID
positivity rate, largely due to new variants, the Albany County Health Dept. is issuing an official public health advisory strongly recommending all residents, regardless of vax status, to wear masks in indoor public spaces, including private businesses.
I have confirmed with my doctor that I’ve contracted COVID-19. While I’m feeling under the weather, I’m thankful that I’m fully vaccinated and boosted, because this very well could have been much worse.

Excited to officially kick off our vaccine delivery program today thanks to our partnership w/ Mohawk Ambulance,

The winter storm response in Erie County and Western New York continues! Our Albany County Public Works crews are working around the clock to clear roads and dig people out. I couldn't be more proud of this team. Stay safe, everyone!
Last night we celebrated the retirement of a beloved member of the Albany County community-
@NorthColonieCSD

. He spent decades serving as a teacher before becoming Superintendent, earning the respect of teachers & leaving a lasting impact on students.
Proud to say the Capital Region is the 1st region in the state to hit the 50% mark, w/ a full vaccination rate of 37%. I commend my fellow county leaders, who have been incredible partners throughout the pandemic. Let’s keep moving forward. From
@WNYT
Announcing this morning that for the first time since June 23, there were no new daily positive cases identified in Albany County since yesterday. Also, no new deaths to report. Today we’re discussing gym inspections & a new shop local campaign we’re launching.
Announcing today Albany County’s positive cases have skyrocketed by 44 overnight, bringing our total to 2,053. This is the highest 1-day increase since May 20. This spike has been traced to a 4th of July party, out of state travel & congregate settings. We need to be cautious.
Once again, thank you to all of the healthcare workers who are making our vaccine point of dispensing (POD) clinics
@TUCenter
run so smoothly. Another successful day!
Announced today that for the 1st time since the outbreak began, we’ve had no new positive
#COVID__19
cases in Albany County, keeping total at 1,864. We haven’t had a new COVID-related death since June 15, for a total of 120. All good news as we get closer to Phase 4 on July 1.

@SecretaryPete
Buttigieg is absolutely right - climate change isn't some vague idea coming in the future. And it's not just something we need to protect our grandchildren from. It's happening right now and we need to act quickly.
Transportation
@SecretaryPete
Buttigieg to
@TheView
on climate change: “There’s no time to argue about whether it’s real. It’s happening, and it’s incredibly dangerous.”
“We’ve got to make our infrastructure more resilient.”
With 1b vaccinations allowed to begin tomorrow, I announced a new initiative w/ Mohawk Ambulance Service &
@MayorSheehan

Great to see
@DeFazios
Pizzeria open up their satellite location in the
@AlbDistCo
building on 75 Livingston Avenue. What a great addition to Downtown Albany!
After 5 years of hard work, I’m thrilled to finally announce a brand new Mental Health Court for the third judicial district in the City of Albany. This will help us divert individuals dealing w/ mental illness away from the criminal justice system & into treatment.
Our first high school vaccination POD is on the books thanks to the generosity of Crestwood Pharmacy & owner Jay Patel, who supplied the doses. A huge shout out to
@BethlehemCSD
Superintendent Jody Monroe & High School Principal Dave Doemel for helping us make it happen.

Congratulations to Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, and Kamala Harris, the first Black female Vice President. Now is the time to turn the page, reject the divisive and hyper-partisan politics and move forward as one nation.
I want to once again thank our County Dept. of Public Works crew who went above & beyond in their plowing duties during the snowstorm last month to perform CPR on a young girl accidentally buried in a snow bank in Knox. One of our county workers received this letter afterwards.
Great turnout for our vaccination clinic at the Arbor Hill Public Library today. We were able to get 700 people signed up! Couldn’t have made this happen without Mohawk Ambulance Service. Thank you everyone!
New York State received 1 million surgical masks from
@LasVegasSands
CEO Sheldon Adelson, flown into
@AlbanyAirport
this morning. These will make a huge difference in the lives of those who are on the front lines of the
#COVID
ー19 pandemic.
I know masks have become a partisan issue — but it’s a patriotic act. Experts say wearing a mask from now until April will save more than 50,000 lives.

@Crossgates_Mall

While we’re sad to see Dan Lynch leaving the post of Deputy County Executive, we can look back on the last 4 years w/ pride, having accomplished a great deal. And w/ his departure, I’m excited to welcome Mike McLaughlin, who will be filling the position as my new Deputy.

When a historic & deadly blizzard devastates the Buffalo area, we are all New Yorkers. That’s why I’m proud that Albany County is sending 21 of our Public Works personnel & 20 large plow trucks out to Western NY for a 3-day deployment to assist w/ the ongoing storm response.(1/2)
None of this would be possible without the dedication and selfless work of our County Department of Health, health care workers and volunteers, and they deserve our thanks.
The best news I've heard in a while: "The findings add to growing evidence that most people immunized w/ the mRNA vaccines may not need boosters, so long as the virus and its variants do not evolve much beyond their current forms..."

Today we honored the life of a WWI hero & former Albany resident - Sgt. Henry Johnson.
Despite being ambushed, Sgt. Johnson risked his life to defend his fellow servicemen, w/ only a knife, earning him the Medal of Honor. Today is the 103rd anniversary of those acts of courage.
Congratulations to
@shakerfootball
on winning the Section 2 Class AA championship last night at SUNY Albany. Wishing Coach Sheeler and the team the best of luck as they advance to the state semifinals on November 17.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Today we gathered in Albany to stand in solidarity against hate towards Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders. Whether it’s in Atlanta or anywhere else, we must call for unity & the protection of civil rights for everyone.
One of the defining qualities of our democratic republic is a peaceful transfer of power. But, hyper-partisan & irresponsible rhetoric from the highest offices, including the White House & Congress, has fueled the shocking violence at our Capitol. This is a dark day in history.
My heart breaks for
@GovKathyHochul
as she mourns the passing of her father. It is never easy to lose a parent, no matter the circumstances, and I want to extend my deepest condolences to her and her entire family in their time of grief.
Thrilled to welcome local celebrities

Proud to report that for the 1st time since August 25, there were no new
#COVID19
cases identified in Albany County in the last 24 hours.
We also haven't had a new death since June 19.
This couldn't have happened without people doing their part & getting vaccinated.
(1/2)
An important part of Albany County's vaccine equity efforts is knowing that not everyone has reliable internet access, which is necessary to sign up for some of our clinics. That's why we're opening our
@TUCenter
Pfizer POD tomorrow to walk-ins between 2pm & 6pm.
(1/2)
Beyond proud & humbled to have community partners like
@NorthColonieCSD

Sadly I have to start 2021 announcing 346 new cases of
#COVID19
were identified in Albany County since yesterday. That shatters our previous record increase of 269 on Dec. 24. I also have to report 3 more deaths. My condolences go out to the families who have lost loved ones.
To say, "it's been a long time coming," doesn't quite do it justice, but today I was thrilled to officially transfer ownership of the infamous Central Warehouse over to Jeff Buell, Redburn Development & Columbia Development, who have put forward plans to rehab the property.

While it's important to remind people to wear masks & socially distance, it's also important to take stock of how far the Capital Region & NY have come. This was made possible by people doing the right thing & making sacrifices, from residents to business owners. So, thank you.
