Congrats to Panther women’s bb coach Jason Nichols. His 2010, 2011 & 2012 Class 3A IHSA state championship girls basketball teams from Montini will be inducted into Illinois Basketball Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame May 6th. Broncos went 102-8 during three-year title run.

Among the 13 winners, coach Nichols is joined by a prestigious group, including DePaul's Doug Bruno.

Chris Wido is the new head baseball coach at Morton College, effectively immediately. An assistant in the program the past five years, Wido has helped direct over 30 players to four-year schools. A former MC player, Wido was a 2-time all-Skyway Conference selection in 2013 & ’14.
Thanks to our 4 sophomore players (Dylan Van Fleet, Franchesca Metz, Tadriana Heard & Jovanna Martinucci) who have forever changed the image of MC women’s basketball. 41-4 overall with a Skyway Conference & Region IV titles and trip to nationals. Playoffs begins next week!

BREAKING NEWS: Rayth Petersen is NJCAA's D-2 Baseball Player of the Week (Feb. 15 to 21). In 4 games, the freshman shortstop from Barrington was 9 for 15 with .600 BA. He also had a 2B, 2 3B, HR & 6 RBI. Petersen has .545 BA in MC's first 6 games.

Tadriana Heard became just the 4th player in MC women’s basketball history to score 500 points in a season. She finished with 20 points, eight rebound and six assists, going the entire 40 minutes in MC's 56-52 win vs. Union County today at nationals. Heard now has 508 points.

Women’s basketball coach Jason Nichols was recognized at last night’s NJCAA Division II pre-tournament banquet in Port Huron, Michigan, as the NJCAA’s Midwest B District Coach of the Year.
It was the second straight year that Nichols received this award.

WE'RE NOT WORTHY: Mia Simpson & Kaylen Evans both passed Tyisha Worthy as program’s single-season all-time leading scorer. Evans netted 23 points and Simpson, 14, in win vs. United Tribes as both now scored 573 points this season. Worthy put up 567 points in the 2016-17 season.
NATIONAL NEWS: Jovanna Martinucci of women’s basketball is 4th nationally in assists/turnovers ratio at 4.7 for NJCAA Division II women’s basketball. Martinucci has 71 assists to just 15 turnovers. There’s a 3-way tie for 1st at 5.0.

As we approach nationals, Dylan Van Fleet has been scorching the nets this postseason. The First Team All-Region IV performer is averaging 19 PPG, 5.6 STL, and 8 REB while shooting 56% from the field (36.8 3PT%).

The Morton College women’s basketball team enjoys its best-ever national ranking at No. 12 in the most recent NJCAA Division II poll released today (February 22nd).
The 8-0 Panthers moved up two spots from No. 14 after beating Bay 99-45 and Sandburg 72-36 last week.
