This senior class has now avenged every playoff loss they suffered as varsity football players:
2018: Flomaton
2019: TR Miller
2020: Catholic
Now they get their shot at a ring. Eyes on the prize Eagles!!
Now that we’ve had 24 hours to digest the game yesterday, let me tell you about an outstanding group of Eagles who have played their last game for Montgomery Academy.
We will greatly miss
@CoachGaryNelson
at MA. He was an outstanding football coach, a great administrator, and an awesome example for his players and others at MA. While this loss hurts, we will pull for him wherever he goes. Good luck Coach!
We are pleased to welcome Coach Robert Johnson and his family back to the MA family. Coach Johnson is an MA grad, state champion player and coach, and Hitchcock Award winner. Welcome Coach Johnson!
This team was made up of great young men who overcame all the challenges of 2020 to soar to great heights. The MA family could not be prouder to have them representing us each and every day.
DT Brandin Bryant, CB Dane Jackson and S Josh Thomas were elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game.
TE Charles Jones was released from the practice squad.
After having MA end their season two years in a row, Trinity showed up tonight with a little extra motivation and an expectation of extracting some revenge…..
@willhardin_
with an incredible one handed catch and run for an Eagles TD! Looks like he will have the first and last TD of the season. Bill would be so proud.
As we say goodbye to 2021, let us not forget a cold night in November when our Eagles won a game no one believed they could and made memories that will last a lifetime!
Maybe
@AHSAAUpdates
can explain why they limit attendance AND limit the ability of schools to stream the game. In 2020, one seems prudent but the other seems quite ridiculous.
Pretty good night for the Cooper family.
@jamal_cooper3
@CooperJashawn
@BigCOOP83
Jashawn Cooper had 163 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries, while Jamal had 127 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Jamal also had five tackles and an interception on defense.
Montgomery Academy (2-0) will host Trinity (2-0) Friday night. This will be the 44th meeting between the schools but the first in the playoffs. MA has won 6 of the last 8 meetings between the schools.
Time to turn the page. CHAPTER FOURTEEN: Montgomery Academy (3-0) will host Montgomery Catholic (3-0) this Friday for a spot in the 3A State Championship Game.
They went 36-13 overall and 22-4 in Region games, winning two Region Championship and five playoff games. These guys have proven to be leaders and champions on and off the field. Thanks for allowing all of us to enjoy a great season! 2/2
The MA offensive line deserves major props for winning the battle up front tonight and opening holes for
@CooperJashawn
and
@jamal_cooper3
who ran with authority.
Tomorrow night’s game will be the first game between two ranked teams in the regular season at McLemore Field since Week 1 of the 2006 season when MA beat Trinity 20-14.
A great group of Eagles played their final game for MA tonight. This class finishes 30-16 overall. 21-5 in Region games. 1 Region Championship, 1 Runner-Up and 2 Playoff Victories. Playoffs all 4 years.
Great Football Players, Better Young Men.
A wonderful season officially concluded with the Annual Football Banquet tonight honoring one of the greatest MA Eagle football teams to ever step on the field.

Montgomery Academy 48

Eagles are 4-0 in the Area and one win away from the
#1
seed in the area tournament.
Leighton Robertson with another night of shut down D!
It’s finally game day. The Eagles take the field tonight at home against St James. There will be a tailgate at 5:30 in the middle school parking lot. Wear white and come out to support the Eagles as they kick off the season.
Special shout-out to
@_ChloeJohnson23
and Virginia Meacham. There was never a lack of effort from these two whether they were playing for championships or down by 20.
No easy way to put it, but the Varsity Girls Basketball season came to a close tonight as they fell to PCA in the Area Tournament opener 😔
All love to our Seniors and the entire team and Coach Mantooth on their hard work in a tough season.
#GoEagles
always!

The MA special teams were pretty special last night. Before the
@akohn7
kick,
@Carsonspring05
boomed punts all night and the coverage teams were awesome.
Art Parker, Managing Editor of the Montgomery Independent, was critically injured Friday night in a car collision on Zelda Road after covering the Montgomery Academy football game. He is currently at Baptist South with life-threatening injuries. Prayers appreciated 🙏🏻
