If you love Code Lyoko and memes, you're in the right place. I don't work for Mediatoon, Moonscoop, Dargaud, or Antefilms. TL;DR I'm a Code Lyoko shitposter.
So there's a Code Lyoko Eye of XANA in the new Marvel Ultimate Spider-Man comic (issue
#5
, written by Jonathan Hickman and penciled by Mauro Checchetto)!
yep
a Code Lyoko reference in a Marvel comic, I did not have this on my 2024 bingo card
Sucks to see. It's about to be the end of an era.
Remember the old Cartoon Network website? From the mid-2000s?
All those fun Flash games, the lovely presentation, the video player where the last 7 episodes of Code Lyoko aired and the show met its quiet fate?
The memories...
WD is closing the Cartoon Network website, and some regions already redirect to max.
It's not an exageration to say that without it I probably wouldn't be making games right now, not just because of what it meant to me, but to an entire industry of third world gamedevs.
Im sad.
30 years ago today, a scientist built a supercomputer, a virtual world, a computer program, and the ability to turn back time.
He rewinds time over 2000 times to do it and goes mad.
His daughter gets trapped in the virtual world for a decade.
So began the story of Code Lyoko.
Jeremie Belpois from Code Lyoko.
This dude single-handedly turned on a supercomputer containing an artificial intelligence that wanted to WIPE OUT HUMANITY.
He refused to shut it off so he could save a girl trapped inside it.
Why?
Cause he had a crush on her.
Legend.
As someone who used to believe I was the only one on the planet to have watched, let alone heard, of Code Lyoko...
..it was cool to see so many people happily remembering and reminiscing about this show yesterday. Thanks.
bruh Code Lyoko is 20 years old now I can't believe this
I remember when Noggin (now Nick Jr.) and The N (now TeenNick) used to both air on the same channel.
Noggin would air from 6 AM to 6 PM and The N from 6 PM to 6 AM.
Half and half, pretty much.
Pretty wild Cartoon Network and Adult Swim are gonna be doing the same soon.
Adult Swim will move to 6PM on Cartoon Network later this year starting September.
“Adult Swim, our animated block is so popular that we've started airing it one hour earlier every night at 7. And in September, it will kick off at 6...”, According to Kathleen Finch.
Since
#RickandMorty
is trending I might as well bring up the fact that Rick got his start in Code Lyoko as a teacher haha
Anyways, congrats to it for 4 insane seasons.
Shows that don't end right after the final confrontation and instead have one final episode dedicated to giving closure to all the important characters >>>>>>>
So...this is pretty damn crazy.
The official Code Lyoko English and French YouTube channel uploaded new videos today.
Both are the same vid, Episodes 1-3 combined together.
This marks 3 YEARS since the last upload for the French channel and 4 YEARS for the English.
WTF.
@RiseFallNick
Oh, you're mentioning this now?
In that case, the ENTIRE saga is now available on YouTube starting today (original and Evolution). Here's the link:
I gotta say, Cartoon Network's airing so much variety now that it's mindblowing. A far cry than what it was several years ago.
again how was this a thing lmao
today is October 9
the day we celebrate the event in which a blonde nerd turned on a supercomputer putting humanity at risk all to make his vtuber waifu become a reality
while the Lyoko Warriors are trying to deactivate the tower, everyone back at the school is doing stuff like this to stop XANA and his daily shenanigans
I used to watch so much Blues Clues as a kid. Like EVERYTHING Blues Clues.
And this message from Steve to all of his fans really makes my day. This is awesome.
I love how the one time Aelita have probable cause to run slowly into the tower and deactivate it she rushes full speed ahead. The school break apart? Slow. Bus about to crash into a power plant? Slow. But HERE 😭? Nasty work
(This is episode 22 of Code Lyoko btw)
Growing up, I figured I was the only person who liked Code Lyoko. Let alone heard of it.
Turns out I was wrong. And I'm glad that's the case. There's a lot more to this show than just massive foreheads.
Today is October 9.
the day some blonde-haired nerd turned on a supercomputer causing a dangerous sentient computer virus to awaken and assert dominance over the human race all in an attempt to save his pink-haired computer waifu
So the interview with Sophie and Jérome (Code Lyoko writer and director respectively) was today! Here are the highlights (a thread):
• No continuation news until possibly this summer.
• The show would begin right after Season 4 of Code Lyoko ended and would be FULLY animated.
Shoutout to Cartoon Network never airing this episode on TV and skipping it for no reason whatsoever.
It wasn't even added to Cartoon Network's video service on its website (unlike the final 7 episodes).
It wouldn't be until August 2008 when the episode finally got put online.
Yumi and Ulrich was so chaotic remember when they had an entire episode dedicated to Yumi giving Ulrich the silent treatment and cold shoulder because he forgot her birthday 😭?
(Code Lyoko episode 78 “Lab Rat”)
According to statistics, William managed to defeat the Lyoko Warriors more times than any of XANA's monsters ever did...and William was only in control for one season.
XANA made a good choice.
It's one thing if you drop Code Lyoko cause of how the characters are designed.
It's ANOTHER if you think it's boring smh, this show's had me glued to the screen even 20 years later lol
So if you don't yet, a new Code Lyoko interview dropped with head writer Sophie Decroisette and director Jérôme Mouscadet today!
And the elephant in the room was asked (translation provided by
@karuzodev
):
so I might have forgotten that today is October 9 which is the day some blonde kid decided to put the whole world in danger all to save his vtuber waifu
Here's a Code Lyoko hot take.
If the show ever returns, as an animated series and not live-action like Evolution was, KEEP THE LARGE FOREHEADS.
It's one of the big reasons why people remember this show in the first place and changing it wouldn't feel right imo.
My personal headcanon (which I believe could 100% be the actual case) is the fact that XANA spies on the Lyoko Warriors quite a lot.
Which makes XANA a more terrifying villain than it already is.
Honestly the most iconic thing about this ep is that it implies that XANA keeps tabs on these kids personal lives to even create a polymorphic clone to make them jealous. Meaning he knows Yumi and Ulrich like each other etc
(Code Lyoko episode 43 “Xana Kiss”)
