Having Bengali and English signs in Whitechapel station pays tribute to the contribution of the Bangladeshi community. Our Tower Hamlets Town Hall signs also welcome visitors in many languages from across our community and around the world. Diversity is one of our country’s greatest strengths, where everyone’s contribution is valued, regardless of ethnicity or first language. The report praises our staff as “ambitious for children, encouraging them to reach their full potential” and places our service in the top 20% in the country. Ofsted also notes outstanding support for children leaving care, with “high quality support and a wealth of services”.

The grant will support 21,000 children in Tower Hamlets over 3 years, ensuring no child is denied the chance to thrive in education because of uniform costs. This is just one of the new measures in our budget to invest in our community. More to come

Cabinet just approved this year’s budget, which comes to Full Council on 26 Feb. We're leading the way in showing how councils can plug the gap after decades of Government cuts, with new schemes & £65m additional investments in services, while also maintaining healthy reserves.

We’re providing free swimming lessons in Tower Hamlets and I’m delighted the Be Well Swim Well swim school has opened. 🏊🏽‍♀️ As leisure centres face closure across the UK, I’m proud we’ve brought leisure centres back into public hands and just invested an additional £1.5 million.
