@MaTTFLaMMaBLe @WalshFreedom Jill Stein lost this election for Harris, and RFK Jr won it for Trump. In a world where nobody leaves their echo chamber, 3rd party voters easier to reach than cross-party voters. Trump made a deal with the candidate most likely to wreck his campaign. Harris didn't.

@sundersays It's a hypothesis that can never be tested. How would ordinary people feel if rates had soared & continued to soar? Their £250k house is still worth £250k, but so is a 2nd hand car, & the average salary is £100k+, with markets in freefall. People w/o savings might feel better off

@MsTranceyPants @FrLemieux @JimSichko All I am saying is, if the priest is going to say the EF, he needs to learn Latin, and not just learn the words of the Mass. That makes it a similarly demanding task to learning Spanish or Vietnamese

Most independent schools have sports facilities to die for - what if they charge for a residential activity club, and offer to throw in a top-class education for free?

@FrLemieux @JimSichko If they learn only how to pronounce the words and do the actions, without understanding Latin, then that is not the spirit of the liturgy. If you have ever had a visiting priest who could only pronounce the words in English but not understand, you know how empty that feels.

I can see how a Catholic convent school for example might try to represent itself as a residential facility attached to a religious institution that just happens to provide education. Not sure if that would cut it

@ICT_MrP The school computers getting dial up internet for the first time when we were 15, and one of the 6th form kids coding the school's network security policy!

@edwardW2 Yes, but in the process of being wiped out, Buddhist, Taoist, Christian & Muslim scholars had to wrestle with it's claims, had to convince and convert it's believers, had to highlight it's errors, and that has an effect on how those traditions see themselves
